These posed flag-framed vainglorious photo portraits (most party grandees can’t resist it) are stultifying.

It’s weird that as few as two dotted lines are now required to link Keir Starmer’s government with ‘Tommy Robinson’.

I’ve seen little evidence that the Reform Hull & East Yorkshire CA Mayor has engaged with his nominal ‘infrastructure’ role. ISTR a ‘transport’ meeting he went to over your way a few months ago, though all he reported was a photo from a mate’s gym—nothing on ‘transport’ that I’ve seen.

Your last sentence is true, for sure.

But I don’t think I’d set such a high value on speed per se. Connectivity and opportunities to travel, definitely. I prefer trains that go slowly enough for me to read the names of stations we pass through without stopping.

We flounced out of the EU on the say-so of politicians who lied to us. And what a total shitshow that’s turned out to be. The polar opposite of what they promised. Now the call to flounce out of the ECHR. By the same people. Telling the same lies. Has the country been kicked in the head by a horse?

37 people arrested and American kids separated from parents after ICE raid at Chicago apartments | CNN Adults and children alike were pulled from their Chicago apartments, crying and screaming, during a large overnight raid that has left tenants and neighbors shaken.

There are actual ‘British’ people who will salivate at this idea. Not British as I’ve always understood it.

A close call. Streak on, Donna!

Me? Hemingway struck a rich seam on this one. Sixth word on the chosen page (p.59 since the time happened to be 07:59) qualified for guess #1. I followed up with SOP, and Bob’s your uncle.

BTW the ‘boy’ Polanski, as the estimable Mr Pecksniff has it, is nearly 43 years old. When the lad becomes a man, he may well prove unstoppable! 😃

There’s a very odd and troubling mixing of ‘steam’ and ‘smoke’ in this article, and it’s not clear who it is that’s getting these two different things mixed up.

One thing that comes through awfully clearly in these ICE videos is how many of these goons gravitated toward the job because being able to assault people with impunity is a big thrill for them.

Nowhere near broken enough in Nigel Farage's opinion.

It has to be smashed to pieces and turned into a dictatorship like the USA.

Well, there it is.

First Christmas Tree.

Artificial. Baubles, no fairy lights. But a Christmas Tree. On 3rd October.

We haven’t even had Hallowe’en, Plot Night nor Remembrance yet and we’re ‘in the run-up to Christmas’.

This is why I have cause for hope. The number of people who are aware and yet plainly don’t care/don’t mind/are even extra friendly hugely outnumber the insecure and troubled. Outright hostility, I’ve found, is very rare.

Trans people are being (ab)used as a lever in sucky political machinations.
