Baldur's Gate 3 fancomic. Gale and Aldiirn. Just look at those sops, all giddy and smiles after the battle. It made Astarion want to puke. THUNK! Astarion throws a dagger into a used potion bottle, wishing it was Gale's back instead. Of course those two would get closer. They had all the things in common. The cooking. Magic theory. Endless discussions about mushrooms. THUNK! Astarion's hopes of staying in Aldiirn's good graces shatter like his next target, an urn. Aldiirn would certainly still call on him for lockpicking and nosing around, maybe that would be enough to earn his dinner, but what about the little gifts, the sneaking away to loot, the little snort Aldiirn makes when he laughs-- THUNK! It's insufferable to think Astarion's about to lose it all to that lumbering yapping fool of a-- THUD.

Baldur's Gate 3 fancomic. In Grymforge, Aldiirn briefs the party. "According to the duergar, my clansmen are waiting at the top of this elevator. We will bring the Moonlantern and escort them to Moonrise as fellow True Souls, in Nere's place. Avoid conflict as much as possible, we need information first and foremost." Lae'zel, the ever-ready soldier, rebutts, "your clansmen are our enemies while they are thralled to the Absolute. We must be prepared for battle." "Iaurrhen is no mercenary outfit," Aldiirn answers as everyone loads up into the elevator, "Couriers can defend themselves but I would not expect greater resistance than what we've faced so far." "And if your mates are among them, what should we expect?" Wyll asks. The elevator clanks and clatters as the doors close and it begins its ascent. Aldiirn lets out a tense sigh, and turns to face the party the barest amount. "I can't say how they will behave while influenced by the tadpoles, but..." Aldiirn uses the tadpole connection to project memories to the others. A lanky man with a broken nose and wild curly hair offers a meal to a tiefling. Aldiirn narrates, "Caelryn is our pathfinder. He's curious and well-meaning, if a little eccentric. Is common is poor but he can understand well enough." With the meal, Caelryn smiles brightly and offers two options for poison. The tiefling gulps nervously. The memory shifts, a monster is about to attack, but Caelryn appears out of the dark to slice into it with twin sabres. "If it comes to a fight, stick to the light," Aldiirn cautions, "Darkness will only cloak Caelryn and his blades while doing nothing to hide you from his senses."

"Zahne secures our delivery sites." The memory shifts to a small masked and hooded person dressed all in black, reacting aggressively to a human who was just trying to offer a drink to the viewer. "They are cautious by nature so don't take it personally if they bristle at you. It would be best to come to me first if you spot them." The memory shifts to a small dark hideaway. Zahne is armoured in leathers and waiting to pull a string that will trigger a rockfall over a group of duergar. "Zahne only fights where they have the advantage, slipping away with silent spellwork and shooting from hiding to goad foes into their traps. Be patient, don't let them bait you." The elevator trundles its way up. Gale leans over Aldiirn, "With your two fellows in the shadows I imagine all eyes must stay on you." "That's our modus, I handle client interaction, they keep me safe. I can't turn my back on them after they've had mine." With a shudder and clunk, the elevator comes to a halt. The doors open and Aldiirn holds his head high to face his clansmen. "We're here." "Spare some cheese for a weary traveller?" groans an old man in a shabby pointy hat. Astarion speaks for the party, "What- that's no drow, who in the blazes is--" "Elminster!?" Gale shouts in recognition.

It's personal quest time, as Aldiirn preps his new companions for the possibility of facing his tadpoled mates on their way to the Shadow-Cursed Lands. #art #bg3
