In terms of public comment, we suggest you arrive 15 minutes early and put your name down to speak at the beginning of the meeting, where all comments have to pertain to an item on the agenda.

Could they make the resolution language clear and direct? Would they be willing to provide signage up stating prohibition of DHS on village property, make sure school districts have a plan of action, provide training to employees of the village on action plans and educate them

Next, ask them to explain what specific steps they would take.

Make sure to put in your email that you want it included in public comments for tonight's meeting, so they make sure it is shared with all board members.

When sending an email, thank them for hearing their community and being willing to make a change.

It doesn't need to be a long email, but we want to make it clear that we see the current version as a starting point, not something that goes far enough.

If you are a Gurnee resident or business owner, it is imperative that we email them (villageboard@village.gurnee.il.us) prior to the meeting where this potential adoption of a resolution will be discussed.

We've received a copy of the language the mayor is proposing for a resolution to prohibit DHS on village property. While we are excited they have heard our voices, their current resolution is quite vague and surface level.

Early voting is open in multiple locations. Remember you can vote at any voting location in the county. Also remember if you are doing a mail in ballot you HAVE to get it in early due to changes in the postmarking policy at USPS this year.
