After years of organizing, our movement has won: End Endless Probation is now law!
Too many children were set up to fail under a system that kept them trapped in probation. With AB 1376, we’re prioritizing youth success, helping young people transition off probation and back into their communities.

That’s why I authored AB 1318, now signed into law, to make clear California will not let our nonprofits be bullied.

Nonprofits are the backbone of our communities; they shouldn’t be targeted for cheap political gain. As a former nonprofit leader, I’ve seen how hard these organizations work with limited resources to serve those in need.

AB 1230 is now law! Together, we’re ensuring students facing expulsion get the individualized support they need to learn, grow, and thrive. Grateful to @cagovernornewsom.bsky.social for standing with us to fight the school-to-prison pipeline.

Birth control is now within reach for more Californians.
I’m proud to have led AB 50 to ensure Medi-Cal recipients can get safe, FDA-approved contraception over-the-counter—no prescription required.

As we fight against Trump’s authoritarian deportation machine, AB 1261 will help children facing immigration in California obtain legal counsel to ensure they have a fair day in court. This bill is a question of our values, and I’m hopeful @cagovernornewsom.bsky.social will see the need to sign it.

National Voter Registration Day is a reminder: democracy is hard-won, and every vote matters. Over 50 years ago, the Black Panthers led voter drives and ran for office across the Bay Area, creating a path that has allowed me, and countless others, to hold seats of power.

Forcing our immigrant communities to live in fear and pushing them into the shadows does not promote public safety. Over 30 million license plates are read by OPD Flock cameras each month, and drivers deserve to have their data protected to the fullest extent of the law. (3/4)
