A wannabe aesthete and an "otaku media enthusiast," albeit one caught up in between worlds-- secular, spiritual, and all in between. Keep wanting to reconcile these somehow.

A little plush of gamer Phantasmoon
A case made to look like the Count of Monte Cristo’s cigarette case
Finally checking out the FGO Fes merch and these are all so stupid I want twenty

She details her life in 90's Japan and provides never-before-seen images from the photoshoot that Takashi Takeuchi was inspired by!

Unless you want to pay somewhere under $10 for a look at the web catalog, you don't have to. I probably wouldn't have too much trouble in identifying what you would like at this point anyway haha
27.07.2025 23:39 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0One "exclusive" thing I might like are autographs, but would any of the big names (or even smaller names) even bother to autograph copies of what they're selling or what you bring there? Have half a mind to bring some of what I already own to do so, but only if there's some chance of such charity.
27.07.2025 23:36 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0C106 will be happening on August 16-17. I'll be in Japan from the starting weekend of FGO Fes to 8/18... Biggest reasons why I'd be willing to travel there for this hellish period really. 😅 Beyond that and Osaka World Expo, it's been a harder than expected planning out my itinerary.
27.07.2025 23:29 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yeah, now that I've just counted out the number of circles that I've "hearted" in the web catalog, there are no fewer than *sixty* on Day 1 that I was thinking of stopping by at the very least. 😵💫 A few of those are the big names like Raita's and Azusa. (Redrop decided to skip this summer though!)
27.07.2025 23:26 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Been thinking, I might be able to grab a few doujin that others I know would be highly into. (Might get a doujin featuring Ibaraki/Tsuna for a Discord pal who really likes them.) Though I'm not sure if I'd want to take on all the shipping costs of any such purchases, think you'd want a Hisui one?
27.07.2025 22:58 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0You too huh. Now Artemis is NP5+ on both accounts...
27.07.2025 22:32 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Amidst all the research I've been doing into who will be present at Comiket 106, I've been encountering circles that I imagine would very much pique the interest of online pals I know like no other. Paging @drkotobuki.bsky.social
27.07.2025 22:29 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Always impressive how fast many animals grow so close to their adult size as babies. Saw baby goats that were a bit hard to see as being one month old already in June.
26.07.2025 18:21 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Am I allowed to finally express excitement about a Japan trip coming up? That starts in less than a week? After finally getting an okay from a new teaching position, after months of searching, to start the job after the trip... I think I am. 👀
26.07.2025 18:12 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 1Lol, my game night went through a few rounds of it last night. Second week/second time I've played it. Pretty fun! (and full of freeze-frame moments of potential elder abuse)
26.07.2025 18:09 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Please get some sleep, assuming you have a daytime teaching schedule during the work week. Has to be some healthy way to relax until then, at least.
12.07.2025 04:54 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Sure can fit a wide slice of ham in those cheeks!
12.07.2025 00:32 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0In a literal sense, people can't live on bread alone; missionaries cognizant of this fact and its literal implications, for example, build/fund schools and infrastructure for daily necessities. It is a shame that there isn't better widespread stewardship (like with those excessive cuts to USAID).
11.07.2025 23:28 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Again, that's part of a premise that I reject, if not have a hard time taking seriously. If your saying such things is your way of wanting to disengage from this chat, then I'll try.
But I at least wanted to answer your other point, in that Earth has always mattered, to the Christians I've seen.
That's breezy culture war stuff; when thinking of earthly costs within American borders, I'm thinking financial, like that which has led to impoverishment of church planters. But mostly, I'm referring to martyrs & underground churches abroad, anywhere b/w sub-saharan Africa to parts of East Asia.
11.07.2025 22:59 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Half-thinking that since my cheap, capsule-like accommodations at the U-Neru Onsen are "only" 3km out from Makunari Messe, maybe I could walk or ride a rental bike... And other half-thinking that'd be a mistake!
Never been to the Grand Canyon before, but maybe knowing STL's humidity is enough? 🤔
Communion and other such formalities don't grant salvation in of themselves. If you still call it selfish even then, then that's where basic evangelism, where spreading "the good news", shows its heart in Catholic & Protestant traditions alike. Many times at great earthly cost to the message bearer.
11.07.2025 22:36 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Pfft, no? It's a symbolic gesture of affirmation towards the establishment of the new covenant through Christ's shedding of his blood for sins. Sunday School stuff. Don't know what that Lupin III episode about Jesus' twin vampire sister might've suggested, but whatever it was likely ain't it.
11.07.2025 22:13 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Does "cannibal cult" come from the (metaphorical! speaking as a non-Catholic) consumption of unleavened bread and wine as Christ's body and blood, as part of communion? That's an interesting way to describe it, I guess
11.07.2025 21:54 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yeah, I more or less am, thank you! Have even been less active on twitter/bsky more than usual. Maybe I'll make at least some noteworthy posts of my own before long-- actually have plans to be in Japan for both FGO Fes & Comiket in a few weeks, so that'll be fun if not humid af (or so I hear).
11.07.2025 21:47 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0(If not a blithe joke or a straw man, that's quite a presumption to castigate countless leaders of countless religious congregations for.) In any case, however poor a witness a modern leader may prove themselves, that mustn't necessarily entail disattachment from the greater bedrock of their faith.
11.07.2025 21:40 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It's because I fundamentally disagree with those premises. Having grown up in the church for 34+ years, being involved in countless ways, and knowing the fellowship of my sister and others (esp. when both live-at-home parents died since '19) those matters could be no further from my lived experience
11.07.2025 21:05 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Too much human failure in what are supposed to be sacred and trustworthy spaces, yes.
11.07.2025 19:39 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Happy early birthday! Because my mind may be flooded with too many things over the next few weeks related to travel/job plans (and I don't check Bluesky often enough)
11.07.2025 19:26 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0That'd get no more political traction than Beto's once-upon-a-campaign promise to put taxes on churches, and prove no less incendiary. Thankfully Catholic and SBC church bodies have been more accountable and forthcoming about abuse, at least.
