I'm here to be a reply gal and continue my 20+ year habit of being social & shitpost-y on the internet. Love #fantasy, #scifi, and historical fiction. My favorite media of the 2020s is #OldGodsofAppalachia, #TheLockedTomb, and #AgathaAllAlong. I lift heavy

To be clear, the DoD does not actually want your good for nothing kids, we love the AVF, this administration just says crazy shit. They just thought this would sound cool as part of their "nothing is off the table" talking point.

I grew up in Danvers, I rode my bike to the drug store to get penny candy. it's changed way too much to be a quaint "town".

There is no farm suicide epidemic.

If you line up rural & blue collar occupations by suicide rate, farmers are way (WAY) down the list.

It's a good talking point for shaking money out of the gov't though, so the farm lobby keeps talking about it.

everyone is complaining.
everywhere.
join in.
the more people complain about this, the weaker the administration gets.

Biden gave this to America and America hated it.

Every time a woman runs for president I hear that she’s too emotional and unstable to make wartime decisions, unlike the men in charge who make really reasonable decisions like bombing kids to death, starting water wars, and poisoning the entire planet

The constituency of Americans who see DEI as detrimental to the country is vanishingly small, the sort of constituency that can easily be ignored if politicians want to ignore it.

Also they keep saying it will put me out of work with its writing. That’s crap. I get yelled at when Dev changes a release date! AI isn’t going to monitor a bunch of slacks because a release can’t pass QA!

I get why they thought this, because this is largely how Trump’s first term worked. He’d do something and then either the courts would say no or some underling would fix it. The biggest difference with Trump II is that he’s unconstrained, both by SCOTUS and his own cabinet. It’s all true believers.

The reason Biden caught the fallout over the economic recovery, which was EXCELLENT unlike what everyone on this fucking website thinks and will get to learn over and over again in the next four years or so, is that wreckers come on here and say stupid shit like this

How Pixar’s Open Sexism Ruined My Dream Job (Guest Column) A former Pixar employee writes that after John Lasseter's departure, the company still has a lot of work to do to fix its sexist culture.

If you're wondering how bad things were at Pixar for women, the answer is pretty horrifyingly bad.

I just assume every man who did well at Pixar during Lasseter's tenure is a weenie. And the fact that (as far as I'm aware) none of them have even attempted to publicly reckon with what went on there or the fact that if they'd been women they wouldn't have their careers just bolsters my assumption.

And, by the way, you need the administrative state to come to identify as an anti-MAGA, anti-populist institution. Not as a left-wing or Democratic Party institution. But most certainly as an institution that identifies MAGA-style politics as its enemy.

It's absolutely amazing how dedicated Trump has been to finding and pressing "FUCK THE ECONOMY" buttons, and has finally found a button he can't un-press when he feels like TACOing.

As someone who works for an embassy rn, let me just say that some diplomats are also blinkered by the fact that they cannot really imagine politics being as ideological, irrational, and as driven by personal desires as it is lol

the animating force in current Republican politics seems to be a form of dominance, perhaps best encapsulated by the famous "when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything". These are guys who never want to hear no, never want to feel they have to do a single thing they don't want to do
