These are βlow enrollmentβ majors but the classes are regularly at capacity. They changed the funding structure a few years ago here, switching the allocation from course enrollments to majors then blamed these departments for a structural, top-down change. This is entirely a political choice.

Please read this article to the end. Even before ICE got involved, this started because this *blind man who speaks no English and uses a curtain rod as a walking stick* got lost on a walk and some Karen called the police on him and they tasered and beat him bc he didnβt drop the rod. WTF

This is a great idea. We aren't allowed to have any single assignment worth more than 30% of the final grade, but I think there's a way to incorporate some version of this even here. Thanks for sharing!

Feb 19: Disability and Dedication on the Archaic Acropolis
The study of Greek art is heavily influenced by the notion of the ideal and idealized human body, which has long been assumed to exclude aspects of bodily difference and disability.
On Thurs, Feb. 19, I'll be speaking at UC Davis about my recent co-authored project, a late 6th century BCE statue of a dwarf woman that was dedicated on the Athenian Acropolis. A recording of the talk from the Fall is available on YouTube, if you're interested!

ResDiff, now in its 7th (!) year is always such a great gathering and I've often thought the stated focus on inequity in Classics, while certainly an impt link between presentations, somewhat understates the range of types of interventions you'll hear. Honored to be part of yet another great lineup
