In her usual style, Fanny [Francesca Alexander, the artist] only outlined the body but focused attention on her sitter’s head with precisely rendered eyelashes, hair and wreath.”The circular artwork is mounted on a darker brown vertical rectangle of paper, on which appears two lines of handwritten text. The top line is "Santa Cecilia Martire"; the text of the 2nd line is not entirely legible.

A 17th-century still life painting. Translating from the Christie's lot essay (written in French), "The painting depicts a richly composed hanging sheaf, combining, among other things, roses, irises, tangerines, pomegranates, peaches, oranges, plums, bunches of grapes, apples, raspberries, walnuts, and ears of wheat, within which a discreet fauna—spiders and butterflies—is nestled. This impressive arrangement is held together by a blue knot, a recurring motif in the artist's work." The predominant colors are brown and orange.

Two sheets pasted together - the white paper clipping on top is pasted onto blue paper. The top page depicts a cut-out portrait of Tsar Peter the Great against a backdrop of a wall of large stones, also incorporating stains and damage. The lower section, with small horizontal cuts suggesting bricks, features a carved text beginning "Petrus Alexeewitz Tzar et Magnus Dux Moscoviae." Below that is a four-line text in Latin by Petrus Francius. According to the NMWA website, “In this portrait of the Russian Tsar, Koerten skillfully uses shading cuts to render different materials, such as his soft ermine stole and rigid armor.”
