According to the museumβs object page, βBefore a banner of cloth, two seated farmers gaze down at a decorative cartouche, flanked by farming tools and animals. This drawing was created by the not yet fifteen-year-old Anna Catharina Rugendas as part of her artistic training. She prominently signed and dated her work with a calligraphic flourish. It is not Rugendasβs own invention but rather a copy after Boetius Adams Bolswertβs engraving based on Abraham Bloemaertβs design.β
