She's blind like this. The big orange eye taking up most of her belly is just decoration, a threat for predators. She senses the world through minute vibrations and changes in air pressure. Footsteps approach, sharp clicks of heels. Then a sliding, rustling as a body much larger than hers settles on the floor, peeking into her hiding place under the couch. She knows it's Liz in the way she carefully strokes her carapace. The rhythmic way her breaths leave her that must be soothing words, even though they both know Gigi can't understand her now.

She relaxes, spreading her spindly legs out and settling more comfortably on the floor. She could cry when Liz doesn't even flinch. She knows she's unnerving like this, just a weird bug. But Liz keeps on murmuring, rubbing soothing circles on the smooth section between her leg joints. She finds herself dropping off to sleep. It takes days to regenerate. And it sucks. So much. But she spends much of it in Liz's arms feeling her quiet lullabies, sitting on Ceci's keyboard tapping legs to the beat, or riding around on Rara's shoulder as she talks on and on and Gigi doesn't know about what but she's happy to listen. At her weakest like this is when she feels the most loved.
