These 150-300 children (or more) and their mothers (primarily) deserves urgent review now. As I made clear yesterday, we must backtrack, take responsibility for the harm caused, and retract any injustice before further lives are lost.

Today, I wake up to the brave call on the UK GOV and the President of the Family Division by the incoming Victims’ Commissioner (@ldnvictimscomm.bsky.social) to urgently review all court cases involving this unregulated expert.

This child removal followed the recommendations of unregulated ‘alienation’ expert Gill.
Late last year, I published a peer reviewed journal article on the harms and risks associated with family court experts in England and Wales in which I analyzed a very similar high court case to that of Sara.

This week we heard of the successful overturn of a #familycourt case where a mother (referred to as *Sara in the reporting by @hansummers.bsky.social @tbij.bsky.social) had seen her daughters removed from her care in the name of the #pseudoscientific and #misogynistic ‘#alienation’ label.

A few weeks ago, I was at the FiLiA 2025 conference where I had just attended a panel session on the global misogyny in our family courts presenting insights from Brazil with the parental alienation law, England and Wales as well as India.

I ended my talk with a note of caution and urgency related to the need to backtrack, acknowledge and rectify as much as possible the harm caused by this pseudoscience globally. I hope that helps to ease some of your concerns - trust me when I say you are not forgotten!

That said, we have also heard from mothers and children raising sadness associated with how this may help mothers and children who step into court in the future but what about those who are already suffering the consequences of previous decision-making.

It is important that we celebrate these achievements. They have not come easily but have taken over a decade of blood, sweat, tears and loss.
As someone who has been part of this struggle to reach these reforms, the process towards progress can feel incredibly slow, impossible, and draining.

There has been some encouraging improvements made in the context of the #familycourts in England and Wales concerning the presumption of parental involvement this week.
The presumption had to go and I have of course been one of the researchers and spokespersons arguing for why.
