Today, 56 individuals (4 Borgwa families & 11 Chakma families) fled to BD seeking protection from #ArakanArmy oppression. The #AA is forcibly conscripting youth, even from its own communities, proving its brutality. This is same #ArakanArmy oppressed #Rohingya, killing thousands in #ArakanState.

It is no secret that the Arakan Army (AA) facilitates human trafficking, as they seem pleased when the Rohingya are forced to flee.

Disinformation campaign spurred student attack on Rohingya shelter, Indonesian activists say Some groups may be fanning fear for political reasons ahead of February polls, they add.

Human rights activists and some observers alleged that university students who stormed a Rohingya shelter in Aceh province the day before had been influenced by an “organized” disinformation campaign, which some even linked to the upcoming general election.

In Mrauk U #Rakhine State, clashes between the military junta and AA persisted from last night to noon, causing brutal injuries to over seven Rohingya and one tragic death.

The AA's use of a #Rohingya village as a war shield also led to the unfortunate loss of animal lives too.

Disturbing reports emerge of Arakan Army infiltration in a #Rohingya village, cornered by #Junta. Junta responds with indiscriminate shelling upon noticing AA presence. Tragically, a reminiscent incident in #Buthidaung last, where 5 Rohingya from a family #killed, many injured.

Indonesian citizens on social media are contributing to a worrisome trend of hate speech directed at Rohingya refugees. This concerning pattern encompasses an increase in offensive comments, online harassment, and even calls for violent acts against the already vulnerable refugee.

The anger and hatred directed at the #Rohingya in 🇮🇩 appear to be fueled by external parties via hate speech on social media. The hate speech has seemingly influenced and, in some cases, brainwashed the #Indonesian people. This mob attack on the Rohingya is deeply concerning.

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS In the South-East, the number of IDPs increased from 518,700 from last week to 523,900 this week. In Bago (East) Region, ongoing fighting forced 5,400 IDPs from Phyu to be displaced within their communities. Among them, 1,600 IDPs were displaced to Kyauktaga Township and 3,800 IDPs were displaced within Phyu Township. In Kayin State, 25 IDPs from Hpapun Township were displaced within the same township in light of the intensified fighting in their area. In Mon State, the ongoing conflict led to the displacement of over 200 IDPs for the second time in Kyaikto Township. However, during the reporting period, som 200 IDPs returned to their place of origin in Billin Township. Across the border, about 8,400 people from Myanmar remain displaced in Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand.
