It was between that and finding new payment processors. Either way, they were gonna take a significant hit

deleting and delisting their NSFW games must have seemed like the lesser of two evils from itch.io’s POV

This might be anecdotal, but a large portion of the visual novel (that is to say most of it), was nsfw stuff

Not just creatively, but monetarily. They must have been stuck between a rock and a hard place. Since a large portion of their games were NSFW, we have to assume that most of their revenue came from NSFW content.

I fear that, without the nsfw stuff, itch is gonna suffer

Tumblr was never the same after they abandoned their nsfw content for a similar reason (at the time, the problem was apple deleting tumblr from their AppStore)

What I find the most interesting, however, is the fate of itch.io

Once morality is brought into the equation, then what is to stop the payment processors from declaring queer identity harmful? #gay

I fear that queer games are gonna be targeted next, for the simple fact of being queer #queer #indiegames

i am going to be honest i have no idea what itch is but after reading through this thread i can say this kind of censorship is a huge dang bummer. the idea that erotic art is somehow less valid is a false trot. making space for adult themes is incredibly important
