super excited about refereeing another paper for a prominent health econ journal. it was a rollercoaster of initial impressions when I first open the manuscript and see 91 pages, then see it's double spaced, then to realize there's about 50 pages of table, figures, and appendices!! :)

The internet was the cusp of a technological revolution but was also a bubble. Both can be true.

was tasked to put together some datasets from the Pulse survey. get 3 weeks in and a notice that it's no longer working due to the shutdown? like why did it work 3 min ago? is there a way around this? maybe it's tracking my IP or MAC address.

I like how the ex talk show host called them all fat and out of shape.

I’d burn that and chop it up into pieces and bury in a pet cemetery before letting that thing into my house!

tried to download an urban area shape file from the Census today. apparently downloading existing files requires proper budgeting.

I like it in text but some journals want everything at the end.

A figure with years on the x-axis and monthly count of suicides on left y-axis and monthly average of pollen on right y-axis. Two lines in the figure in a co-moving pattern, peaking in spring months and fall months. Dashed line is the monthly count of suicides, solid red line is the monthly average of pollen.

🚨NEW PAPER ALERT 🚨
Are suicides sensitive to small health events like seasonal allergies? More than 80 mil Americans have seasonal allergies, & these are getting worse as temperatures rise. We show that there are more suicides as pollen levels rise.

Woot!! I just got done with my first paper as reviewer #2. I was dreading being 'that' reviewer. Interesting paper and approach and I'm looking forward to seeing it published soon (if the revisions are done).

Been a productive summer: submitted 2 papers for publication (1 rejected but w/ good feedback after review) and 1 R&R w/ very positive aspects and little (but big) tasks to change. completed 2 manuscripts to be ready for submission soon, and attended 2 very informative conferences.

Tool has such a deep range of relevant songs, even 20-30 years later. Eulogy is befitting of Charlie Kirk and other like him. Grandstanding for meaningless ideology. youtu.be/6vc9Mz2tfHM?...

He and Shooshan were my co-chairs on my dissertation committee and I couldn’t of asked for a better pair mentoring me through some of the toughest moments in my life. He and his wife were always so kind. He will be missed.

One of the great educators, scholars, and mentors of my field has left us. I was fortunate to know him and learn from him. Our world was a better place and I will miss him very much.

I know his wife Janet is a wonderful lady and they both opened their house many times for the WSU econ department picnics. They both funded a scholarship award that I was lucky enough to be apart of. My prayers and condolences goes out to her and their daughter. He was a great person.

Allen C. Goodman was my co-chair on my dissertation. I learned a lot from him over the years as his student, mentee, and eventual colleague in the world of economics. He was a great and caring person with interesting stories from his youth. It comes w/ heavy heart to learn he passed recently. RIP

Ezra is jealous of the grift Kirk had on brainwashing and cutting together segments to seem like he was smart and able to debate.
