Charles Whitaker et al are making people mad for wasting money. They have paid me NOT to teach for 3 yea & have pissed away the Renberg Chair, taking $3 million from the late Gene Kapaloski (RIP) for LGBTQ journalism courses while not allowing me to teach them. Meanwhile, they give $75 mil to Trump

Yes, Northwestern and @medillschool.bsky.social, go hide in shame. You realize that no one will want to give you money to turn around and give it to Donald Trump. My alma mater is dead to me.

@PeteHegseth on X: Let’s make one thing crystal clear:

Admiral Mitch Bradley is an American hero, a true professional, and has my 100% support. I stand by him and the combat decisions he has made β€” on the September 2 mission and all others since.

America is fortunate to have such men protecting us. When this @DeptofWar says we have the back of our warriors β€” we mean it.

Hegseth is very transparently blaming a Navy admiral for his own decision. Let this be a lesson for every other military officer: The Trump administration will issue unlawful orders, then blame you for following them.

If Admiral Bradley didn’t realize before that these cowards were setting him up to take the fall, he knows it now. Time to hire a good lawyer.

Sometimes it’s worth taking the right position even if you think you don’t have the votes, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social. Politics is about trying to move the needle, not about accepting the permanence of the status quo.

I bet you’d have a lot of GOP veteran support.

I mean, it’s complicated. A lot of the faculty at them still care deeply about educating. And they are actually more affordable than ever for students to attend. And yet their admins are captured by group-thinky consultant class.

BULL-FUCKING-SHIT!

Two guys clinging to a burning boat do not pose any threat to anyone in any conceivable way.

Even if they were enemy sailors from a naval ship, this targeting would be unlawful and constitute a war crime.

You can't just fucking SAY things and will them to be true.

It sucks that meeting a new class now involves not just going over the syllabus, setting expectations, and trying to establish a rapport, but also trying to deduce whether any of your new students are vigilante right wing operatives out to seek viral controversy at the expense of your job

In college, I had to read the Department of Defense’s Law of War manual.

I kid you not when I tell you that firing at the shipwrecked is quite literally provided as an example of an illegal order.

Trump Boat Bombings Suddenly on Shakier Ground as Damning Info Emerges Will Republicans give us a real investigation into Trump’s bombings, now that we just learned horrific new details about them? Or are they seriously going to fall on their swords for Pete Hegseth?

News --> The commander who oversaw Pete Hegseth's alleged killing of two boat bombing survivors is now likely to come in and face questions from the House Armed Services Committee, ranking Dem Adam Smith tells me.

In this piece, I try to make sense of this horror:

This is ridiculous. It was the first TRUMP admin which developed the cases against President Hernandez. His brother Tony Hernandez was indicted in 2018 and convicted in 2019, and key ally Geovanny Fuentes Ramirez was indicted in 2020.

Both were later sentenced to life in prison!

We first note that hand-wringing about the decline in US college enrollments has mistakenly linked such declines to the price of four-year colleges.

But the decline is entirely driven by two-year community colleges (and by for-profit colleges). The four-year sector is the dog that didn't bark.
