Hey everybody, I live in Canada’s boreal forest region. I post images here of my explorations on the lakes and in the forest. I post current pictures and stuff from the archives. Fan of philosophy. No politics here. Proud Canadian. Gerry

Yes, when you see the red, it’s a really strong solar storm. That’s probably why you were able to see it so far south.

I usually just throw them in the garbage. Some people take them out to an island because of bears, but bears can swim out to Ireland’s. The responsible thing is to just throw them out in the garbage. I have never heard of anyone throwing them directly into the lake.

Wildlife is abundant in the part of Canada I live in. Bald eagles are extremely common here and unless you’ve seen one up close, you won’t believe how big these birds are. I often feed them a small fish and some birds even follow you around the lake hoping you’ll throw them a prize

Yes, I have some really good reflection pictures from northern lights. I have taken over the years. I’ll look in the archives and post a few.

It is beautiful here. I get to spend the summer out at my camper and exploring the lake at Sioux Narrows

Yes, 70,000 lakes out here. Where was your cottage?

Poor Henry. Jasmine has him pinned down. Funny how he takes this from her and never scratches her or anything. Good friends.

I bet! I get to see these frequently. But I’m quite a bit further north than you are.

Yes, must’ve been immense, solar flares on the sun to cause that strong a storm!

Those reds are amazing. That means the Aurora was extremely powerful at a very high altitude above the Earth. I saw reds here as well but they were in November.

It seems like 50 degrees of latitude or more is where you see them most frequently. Even more often, as you go way north. I'm lucky I get to see them as much as I do.

Going back into the archives to show you that the northern lights don't just show up in the winter. Here's a shot taken over Lake of the Woods in July of 2022. It was a really strong solar storm that day!

I took a first year geology course. It was one of the most interesting university courses I ever took.
