The study from Cal Poly Humboldt and @savetheredwoods shows that tree size, presence of other species, and forest density made a difference in redwood mortality rates.
And since those factors can be controlled with responsible forest management, supporting these trees just got a little easier.

New research offers hope: “One of the biggest surprises from the study was that the more damage from fire a redwood experienced, the more new shoots and branches formed after the fire,” says researcher Jeff Kane.
