my advice for trans people right now is to get what you can, however you can, whilst you still can and to prioritise things that can not later be taken away from you or undone

if you did it would be the thing that pushed me over the edge to start bloggin'

it would be cool if there was a way to like, redact text bot only for others, like a spoiler you can't un-spoil. that way you could write a diary entry about something and blank out the parts that are a little too identifiable or personal.

if you can store the files on a website, that's great but do your best not to become reliant on someone else's servers, you never know when a service will stop or price will increase.

don't let perfect be the enemy of good, having *some* of the files is always better than none of them. :)

my advice is to start an archive TODAY! it only gets harder and harder to go back and make one later. grab what you can, put together a file system, keep a copy of it somewhere else!

i try to imagine my life is ruined, my house has burnt down, what would i need to keep moving forward...

i keep physical prototypes for a short while but do a clear out every 3 months, otherwise i'd drown in them. it's even harder these days because the stuff i work on is so large, like playsets of giant rockets etc. if i kept all the prototypes i'd run out of room really fast.

i have 3 physical drives, including 1 which i keep with me at all times in case i have to run away for some wacky reason.

i also have an archive page on the Fold Up Toys website, which hosts a lot of old content, which uses PDF's that can be embedded into the Wayback machine

when i was fist getting started, a computer died and i lost a few years worth of designs. ever since then i work really hard to back things up...

i keep a large archive of files from the last decade, there's a spreadsheet and naming/numbering system to help organise it all.

and by the time they come for you, you'll have no choice but to join the resistance as no one else will have you

you will remove any hesitation from this series of events when you tell people about it in the future. you have always been a part of the resistance. even before you were.

i've designed a lot of toys recently for zines and what i have learnt is that i should probably just make my own zine
