In general, I plan far in advance when I see abuse coming down the pike. I try to out-strategize the abusive person or culture, including killing then with kindness. When all else fails, contact the authorities and report it.

Technically they are saving that storyline for season 3 (2026) but there’s a way that season two anticipates the mind-numbing narcissism of the second novel. I haven’t read the novels since high school but I remember enjoying the first then becoming less interested as it progressed.

Interview with the Vampire seasons 1 & 2 are exactly like the novels—season 1 starts slow but finishes strong; season 2 makes evil boring (and navel-gazing) enough to make one want to join a convent.

The only thing more boring than the new season of Interview with the Vampire is the new Ken Burns documentary. Both are cures for insomnia!

Just ordered the digital version of Benjamin Perry and Stephen King’s The End Times — can’t wait to start reading this Last Man (or Last Northern Town) newspaper installment post-apocalyptic plague novel on Dec 19!

Drove my first vehicle with all-wheel drive (up an icy snowy hill and into my driveway) and I’m pretty sure there’s no going back! The luxury of safety.

I can relate. Once a guy at work (who worked in IT) mansplained to my face that I was not an All-American in track and XC but rather a « small college » All American. He kept repeating this every time he saw me in my capacity as a faculty member of the university’s supervisory athletics board.

I was thinking about how when I was a kid in suburban MA in the 70s, there were always rumors of clowns in white vans jumping out and kidnapping children. King’s use of the evil clown trope in IT must be rooted in this New England postwar lore.

Watching “Welcome to Derry,” I am reminded of how weirdly realistic—and therefore seriously scary—Stephen King’s fiction is. I mean, isn’t IT just a record of growing up in rural Maine in the last few decades of the 20th century?
