I started teaching in the '80s. At one point, I had an older colleague who was very set in their ways. At one point, I commented that they were "preparing students for the '90s... The 1890s."

Too many teachers are still doing that.

I just finished my 40th year of college-level teaching. I can't believe that I am STILL dealing with people who
*can't follow simple directions
*don't respond in a timely manner (or at all!)
*expect ME to take care of everything for them
*don't want to learn

Thank goodness retirement is in sight.

Some days, my job is incredibly rewarding. Today is NOT one of those days.

Invariably, people who proclaim, "I know what the Hell I'm doing!" have absolutely no idea what they're doing.

After about an hour, we sent the student out of the room. The teacher of the student said, "Well, I thought that went pretty well!"

I was reminded of that today.
