Any university that voluntarily shutters a DEI program, office or personnel “Because of Trumps Executive Order” is making a PR decision. Not a legal one.

Trumps EO does not change anti discrimination law. If anything, the EO is unlawful.

Universities should treat it that way.

Was thinking about that the other day. We renewed our passports by mail and got them in under 2 weeks. About as efficient as anyone could hope.

Yeah, I think this. University of Wisconsin is now essentially a private Uni, as is Michigan and Oklahoma. All because states started cutting subsidies, which meant those places started raising money from corporate interests

Oh, I agree. I think this goes back to the conservative antagonism to subsidized education.

I will have to read this later, but when I was teaching, have to say that it was often students who approached college like a consumer good.
