He may have been in the meetings but this is a league wide development over the last few years. Marketing over building ahead of the new season.

I'm sure the players enjoy it! I'm not a fan of playing out potential rivals and league competitors ahead of the season. Preseason to me is to build fitness, bed in new players, and work on tactics. It will naturally go to a more competitive mindset with your league competitors. Not for me 🤷‍♂️

Hard to think he plays much of a role in selecting the opposition or location for a trip like this. Still, I hate this new trend of playing other PL teams in the preseason.

I can see Gyökeres left sided preference opening up those out to in runs off the ball that we used to see when Gabi J was fit. Being less predictable when he doesn't have the ball and getting him into goal scoring positions we have rarely seen since.
