...Thinking maybe there is a *correlation* with current events that is perhaps *causing* you to post this...?

We have one (sometimes two) Great Spangled Fritillaries that seem to almost live on a milkweed plant down at the lakeshore across the street from our house in Maine

I think I've had alcohol in approximately a dozen states, so apparently, I'm good here πŸ‘

I know everyone in that photo! I retired from that office 3 1/2 years ago. The office moved to its current location in 2006, and OU didn't allow CRTs in the building, so I'm guessing that there hasn't been a "green screen computer" in that office in at least 20 years. Also: "hard drive computer" πŸ€”

Some very bad news coming out of NWS Goodland KS. Sources confirming that they are no longer 24/7 operational due to such low staffing issues and will be closed 5 hours a day which requires other NWS offices to issue warnings for them when closed

Huh. Episode ended with one of my favorite songs from the 1960s (β€œWindmills of Your Mind”)! That was cool. Now…on to season 3…sometime….

Planning to watch that episode (S2E10) in a few minutes. Thanks for the warning about the ending....!

Atmospheric Chaos followed you

This could also be taken as a simple statement of fact. Somehow I seem to attract the worst in the atmosphere.

I probably should clarify...the reddish color is dust that was blown into central Oklahoma from west Texas and southwest Oklahoma

Environmental Modeling Center (EMC)

For those who don’t know what NCEP EMC does, they run our numerical weather prediction models on supercomputers, and do research on how to improve those models. The forecast on your smartphone is probably derived from a model that they ran. www.emc.ncep.noaa.gov/emc.php

I want to ❀️ your picture, but I can't ❀️ the approach of spring weather in Oklahoma. It's my least-favorite season here. Once we move to Maine (if we ever complete the move), then I can remotely watch the horrors here, after shoveling snow there.

The National Weather Service is a lifesaving public resource. We must save it. The National Weather Service (NWS) is the most important federal agency you benefit from on a daily basis.

Here's a small list of the ways you directly benefit from the National Weather Service on a daily basis.

The agency is a public good that issues critical, lifesaving forecasts and alerts. We must save it from indiscriminate and irreparable damage.

This. It’s so weird just being out in the world watching people do normal stuff. I just want to yell β€œdon’t you see what’s happening? Do you know what is going on? Do you care?”

www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/noaa/noaad2.... Winter storm @ Maine departing & no major effects at our house there...so we now turn our attention to a winter storm arriving tomorrow in Oklahoma...along with Maine-like temperatures. (Also...much appreciation for NWS graphics, models, AFDs, etc.!)

We desperately need solar at our house in Maine. We've had two 4-day electrical outages (1 in each of the past 2 winters) that allowed the house temperature to plunge almost to 0 Β°C, and since we still mostly live in Oklahoma, it's difficult to get up there in time to ensure minimal (or no) damage.

Great Storm of 1975 - Wikipedia

50 years ago today, shortly after I began an interest in weather, I watched our barometer point to 28.90 inches of mercury in central Illinois (I've only seen that low a pressure once since then). I moved to Omaha, Nebraska ("blizzard of '75") a few years later. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_S...
