Aaaand my copartner promptly acquired it for my birthday present! EEE!
10.11.2025 00:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well, maybe not on a scale of Lawyers, but it IS kinda part of the job, no?
10.11.2025 00:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I like Uncial and Insular, but who am I kidding, I love all of them.
10.11.2025 00:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well this sounds right up my alley! *goes looking*
07.11.2025 01:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So, is this legal jargon, a colloquialism among lawyers, or are you personally an especially witty lawyer?
Inquiring linguists want to know...
I was raised Episcopalian, so I'm slightly Purist of Neutral in that I expect any basic wine-like drink should do. So wine, cider, mead, etc. is great. Beer or rum in a pinch maybe. Margaritas are going too far.
We were anti-wafer, pro-bread at St. Judes!
I will absolutely be cheerfully flirty with someone for niceness, but I won't seriously hit on someone just to be nice, ask them out, or do anything physical more than a hug, unless I'm seriously interested.
Both because I am painfully honest and because I'm touch sensitive. π

13.10.2025 06:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So I offered to NOT sue over anything that would not have happened to me had I been wearing shoes.
He mulled over my phrasing, concluded it was good, and agreed, provided I was willing to put it in writing. XD
That was the same lawyer who looked at my 19yo bare footed ass and just raised an eyebrow and told me I was obliged to wear shoes, lest I sue them over foot damages.
I had been through this before elsewhere.
The company lawyer (who was awesome) very politely announced that he would NOT be looking in the break room for the next hour, and would NOT fire whoever made those forms as long as they were gone by the time he looked again. π
10.10.2025 21:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yeah, our company had just set up anti-harassment training, and a handful of us decided to spoof it because they left out the "anti-" part in the announcement. We printed a small stack up and put them in the break room.
10.10.2025 21:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I made a form for that once during the .com boom
It did not go over well...

08.10.2025 02:58 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have had more than one person over the years tell me they understand musicals now because of my tendency to randomly start singing. π

05.08.2025 02:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So... yeah, IDK. The whole thing is bizarre to me.
05.08.2025 02:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I guess a lot of it is just... the recognition that geek girls are a geek boy's best chance, so if a geek girl still rejects a geek boy she must not really be a geek girl.
And even so, I rejected countless geek boys in my storied youth at cons, and none of them accused me of being a fake geek...
But then, I can only extrapolate. I have a pretty strong sense of what the kind of geek boy who accuses geek girls of being fake is really like, but I don't truly understand.
Nobody in my life has ever actually accused me of being a fake geek.
I ONLY date geeks. But never that kind of geek boy.
And yes, a ton of built-in misogyny there, and also whatever CPTSD from being bullied as kids, including by the Mean Girls, which, like, I get it, me too.
But as I at least present female by default, the fact that this, too, is an experience I share with the geek boys is ignored, I guess?
And there's so many other assumptions built into those ideas to begin with, while ignoring the simplest answer that the girls most likely to want the geek boys attentions are fellow geeks who actually do share their interests.
How intense is the pressure to perform in front of girls for these guys?
The fake geek girl narrative is so weirdly recursive. There's this assumption that non-geek girls want to date geek boys and are willing to do stuff they don't actually enjoy to get said geek boys attention. The geek boys DO want the non-geek girls to want their attention... but still object?
