I played Eddie there for a few years in the late 80's and early 90's. I'll always miss that theater.

I find this to be a great time to watch the more off-kilter Christmas movies. I'll be watching "The Hogfather" this week and next week "Scrooged" following up with "Violent Night". The closer it gets to Christmas, the more I'll watch the traditional Christmas fare.

Candleshoe. It's not her best movie by a long shot but it was the first one I saw her in. It was a double bill with something I can't remember back in 1977. Other than that, probably Maverick.

The first good news I've had this year: The Blue Danube had a "soft" reopen today. I've missed that place so much.

I passed a parked Deplorean (Cybertruck) just south of the OSU campus today. It had a custom license plate that said, and I promise I'm not making this up, DOGE BTC. Why does real life have to be dumber than anything I can make up?

My daughter took the initiative to purchase a new toilet seat and install it to replace the cracked one in our bathroom. This was her first home repair and she did it perfectly with no help. I'm inordinately proud of her for this.

Andrea and I have taken the next few days off, rented a cabin away from the world and are just going to hide and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Spent the weekend puttering around the house and baking bread, bagels and pizza. I need more weekends like this.

I love a print copy but as I get older I primarily read digital versions so I can increase the font size.

Just saw that Brazil is playing at the Gateway theater this weekend. I watch it every year to remind myself that the best reaction to living in a dystopia is to just go mad.

Just took another batch of cream scones out of the oven and now it’s time to make pizza dough. Slowly working on getting my baking mojo back. I’ll have to start on breads later in the week.

Have filled the trash and recycling cans, which is probably a bad idea to do on a Saturday when trash pickup is on Friday. At least it's more stuff out of the house.

I've suddenly realized what a hole my house has become since 2020. It's like my eyes have been suddenly opened to the sheer amount of crap I'm living in. Time for a posession purge. I'm going to throw on my favorite Christmas movie, "Hogfather", and see how quickly I can fill up our trashcans.

It's good to hear someone else having the same issue. I seem to have given up most of the things I loved doing in the last 5 years or so. I'm trying to get back into some of them like baking and reading actual books instead of just doom scrolling.

I thought I’d take it easy cooking dinner tonight before the major cooking tomorrow, then decided to make pizza from scratch for the first time in a year. I need to reassess what “take it easy” means.

My daughter's D&D group has asked her to invite her parents to join them for a new adventure. When I asked why she said it was because we are seen as the "cool" parents who support their child in her hobbies. I'm very flattered but I find that so sad for the others in the group.

I just got to go there for the first time this summer when I was doing a drive up the New England coast. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed them.

I'm going to spend this week cleaning house and scrubbing my kitchen to get ready for making Thanksgiving dinner. Then, this weekend, I'm going to hunker down with some tea, a plate of scones and several books I'm planning to catch up on.

When I was a much younger man, I was violent. I didn't start fights but I wasn't afraid to wade into a brawl to protect those in trouble. I'm old now and left that person behind long ago. After seeing Neo-Nazis marching on my city streets, though, I'm beginning to miss the man I was.
