So now I'm matching up the baptisms, burials and marriages to make family groups. This will probably take me many months! I'm keeping a running list of family surnames and variants and sharing them with the FHS. I've started a census spreadsheet as well.

Having defined my borders, as well as the time covered (1687-1891), the next step is to identify the families living there by transcribing the parish records. Luckily for me, another member of the Upper Dales FHS came to the rescue with her baptisms transcription.

After years of humming and hawing, I have at last started on my One-Place-Study of Marrick in Swaledale, North Yorkshire. It is one of two places in my family tree where literally hundreds of my relatives lived, most of whom were Blenkirons. #OnePlaceWednesday #genealogy

I sent the In-Depth Report on Puschkinallee 5, so it should be up on the Society's page soon. But the Wikitree page covers much the same ground. Been researching the local historical context and hope to write some more in the near future, as well as researching more families.

I wrote about Dr. Sasaki for the online German lexicon "Atomwaffen A-Z". He worked tirelessly as one of the only doctors alive to treat patients in the Hiroshima Red Cross hospital after the US bombed the city with a nuclear weapon, 80 years ago.

I am a member of the Upper Dales Family History Society. It mostly consists of a mailing list and a repository for files and photos. People post stuff about what they're researching, ask questions (that locals often answer), look for help, etc. It is a great collective of family historians.

The Commercial Traveller Thomas Blenkiron, 1828-1876

My maternal 2x great-Grandfather Thomas Blenkiron was a commercial traveller. In the 19th century the number of men turning to this occupation grew to match increasing growth of manufacturing and public buying power. But life on the road took a heavy toll.

Tell it like it is. Physicians for Human Rights Israel has taken a position that we should follow. Against the dismantling of the health system in Gaza, and the removal of all subsistence for life. All Israelis should speak out against their government's policy of genocide.

Just read a msg on my fam hist group that says the GRO site has problems when the year of death and of probate are different. She said to look for any death adjacent in the list for the probate year and then look for the probate I require. Does that make sense?
