04.03.2026 18:34 β π 82 π 4 π¬ 2 π 1I never even considered the possibility that my books could have a signature scentβ¦
04.03.2026 18:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Speaking to what you said about "it makes me feel like it's helping me," I think one of the bigger concerns with it is that it leads non-coding executives to think they're Codingβ’ when what they're creating isn't production-quality at all and requires so much cleanup to be quality/stable.
04.03.2026 18:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0He'd vibe-code prototypes for features and then there'd be this expectation that "you can just drop what I did in there, right?" when the code was like 15,000-line labyrinthine God Class view controllers full of redundant code that spewed pointless logs. It wasβ¦ deeply frustrating.
04.03.2026 18:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0At my last job the CTO was super into AI and there was a soft mandate to use it ("or it'll look bad on performance reviews"). Tried using Claude to fix a bug and it just kept breaking things in different ways for like 4 hours. Finally I just fixed it myself in like 20 minutes. AI coding is garbage.

04.03.2026 03:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0After a few weeks he finally figured out how to get into his car without setting off the alarm I guess, which is good for him because at that point I was thinking of pushing like 3 dozen nails into his tires
04.03.2026 03:46 β π 39 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0At one place I lived at in Queens, this dude's car alarm would go off at ~1AM every night and just keep going for like 2 minutes while he sat there inside it. So I got a high-powered flashlight and every time it went off I opened my window and shined him with it. Soon it'd stop after like 3 seconds.
04.03.2026 03:43 β π 50 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I think about this one all the time
04.03.2026 03:21 β π 16 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0A screenshot of the Polymarket website showing a prediction market titled "Nuclear weapon detonation by...?" under the Geopolitics and Ukraine categories. The market displays three betting options with their current probabilities and "Buy Yes" or "Buy No" prices: "March 31" at 5%, "June 30" at 12%, and "Before 2027" at 22%. The total trading volume shown is over $843,000.
Polymarket has created a betting market on the use of nuclear weapons. Everyone involved in this should be put in prison for life.

She been married to Bill Clinton through at least 2 scandals.
She is quite literally suffering one of the biggest fools of my lifetime lol
I'm thinking of bringing it back in some form or another. I miss the way the web used to be, like, "everyone's got a website" rather than "everything is on like 4 websites that algo-fuck what you see for their own benefit"
03.03.2026 20:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I started making fun of Chick Tracts and eventually ended up getting like 12,000 unique visits a month somehow, which I was too dumb to ever monetize. Looking back I feel like I missed a huge opportunity. And then I lost the domain after like 10 years due to the registrar fucking things up
03.03.2026 19:56 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I learned PHP/HTML/MySQL in like a weekβ¦Β I had this weird burst where I slept like 6 hours across 6 days and just couldn't stop staying up all night learning shit. Then I built my first website and immediately started doing political writing. This was in 2002, before "blog" was a thing.
03.03.2026 19:54 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yeah, it opened a lot of doors for me too. Once I realized connections could go both ways I started running a web server and keeping the dialup connected as long as possible. But then I had to keep manually updating my IP address in the DNS whenever I got disconnected lol. Cable made it better.
03.03.2026 19:52 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Same, I had to wait SO LONG between when it came to my friend's town and when it finally came to mine. Meanwhile I had phone lines stretched from my mom's bedroom into mine to plug into the modem, and I had to plead my case for a second phone line so she'd stop getting mad I was on it all the time
03.03.2026 19:48 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If they want me back they have to go fully Woke 2, sorry. Whole hog. I gotta be able to get an abortion there
03.03.2026 16:14 β π 11484 π 2286 π¬ 151 π 66Also, our political system is yet another symptom of our broken society. Like, I get it that 60% of eligible voters vote and there's the Electoral College and gerrymandering and etc etc etc powering all this, but that stuff is all a product of a society where everything is done for profit.
03.03.2026 19:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0it says a lot about us, none of it good, that we chose a leader with not a single redeeming quality: stupid? yup. corrupt? absolutely. dishonest? to his core. violent? maybe the most violent ever. any ability to empathize with people? none. baseline level of regard for human life? not even a skosh.

03.03.2026 19:32 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0When I finally got dialup I'd hang out on IRC to get links to FTP servers with various files available, and I downloaded all, like, 500MB of Gladiator over the course of about a week lol
03.03.2026 19:25 β π 11 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0hell yeah. Even playing, like, Flashback on my old Mac Quadra 605 when I got home from middle school
03.03.2026 18:58 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Where I lived, we got internet in phases, so my friend like 15 miles south of me got dialup about a year before I did, and same with cable internet, so he'd pirate stuff and burn it to CD-Rs for me. π΅ Those were the daysβ¦
