And I don't think I ever posted the 3rd Ditto I painted? So here's "Ditto Cream Soda"!

the thing about "separating the art from the artist" is that it comes from academic circles where they were trying to separate an artist's views from an interpretation of their work as an intellectual exercise, not as a way to give people moral carte blanche to support shitty people

The professor must not have any food sensitivities. I’m so tired of people not knowing that alternate milks let many of us drink coffee and not be in gut pain.

And look, if he wants the absolute most basic coffee, he can make it at home.

Hoppers is an absolutely brilliant film. Wonderful animated, silly, wholesome, and emotional. We NEED more films like this.

It’s not Coco level buuuut it’s pretty damn beautiful. Take your kiddos, go see it with your parents and grandparents, friends, and siblings!

it’s very funny how the Senate Democratic leader β€” who btw consults an imaginary suburban family β€” couldn’t endorse the Democratic nominee for NYC mayor because Israel or whatever while actual, real suburban Americans are like β€œhe is very handsome and charming and I agree with many of his policies”

The danger to my job from AI isn't that AI can do my job, it's that my job is made even more precarious by the way AI is shaping ideas of the value of work. It can't do my job, but it can be part of convincing people (incorrectly) that my job isn't necessary.

An acrylic painting of a skeleton framed head and shoulders leering at a Chicago-style hot dog it is holding in its hend. The hot dog has a little face that is just two eye holes and a mouth hole, and some spooky, ghosty green ectoplasmic things are floating up out of the little face holes. No I don't know why either.

I have once again been way off w/r/t actual painting so I wanted to mess with something small and low stress and dumb with no attachment to how it was going to turn out and I think it's safe to say I accomplished that

Origami rose designed by Toshikazu Kawasaki. Magenta on a green background.

RIP to legendary origamist & mathematician, Toshikazu Kawasaki. He died on March 4 in a house fire at the age of 70.

Kawasaki-san contributed so much to the art & science of origami, paving the way for much of the work being made today. His rose, below, is among his most famous models. #origami

if you find "ah ahh my child might lose" to be as pressing of a concern as "the government bars my child from participation" what's being communicated is how you'll hang folk fully out to dry at the slightest convenience.

"I'M THE REAL VICTIM HERE!" Newsome fumed, as he pushed aside a woman living under a bridge and personally threw the cremains of her husband into a dumpster

I want to reassure my followers that even though Bluesky has a new CEO, I still remain 100% committed to my mission of making your experience of using this website as unpleasant as possible

I honestly think the majority of my income from being an author comes from handselling my books at conventions. I make far more from that then advances and royalties.

For some publishers, I may be their biggest customer for my books.

blacksky.community runs completely independently from Bluesky although it integrates with and builds on their work (the Authenticated Transfer Protocol aka atproto)

@blackskyweb.xyz as a company is supported by voluntary members subscriptions.

I love how basically every website on the internet is now loaded up with so much bloat that opening a new site causes my relatively new Macbook Air to completely freeze for 5-30 seconds at a time. I can run video editing software no problem, but can't load a simple fucking news article

I want to shake people and be like, teachers WANT to assign whole books. you don't need to make it a legislative mandate! just give us appropriate autonomy and an incentive/evaluation structure which won't punish use of complex, long readings and full works - most teachers will jump in w both feet.

In a better world I would be able to pitch a piece about the obsession with the upper class SWer and what the fixation on the 0.01% of sex work obscures about the reality of the job but unfortunately we don't live in a world where publications pay for pieces like that

Here's a draft manuscript of the Magic: The Gathering roleplaying game from 1996, and I've giving it away as a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood, with permission from the authors. Not sure how much to ask for. Vanishingly rare. $1,872 raised so far. #mtg #ttrpg
