I’m no Sisyphus —
I’m the boulder
he couldn’t budge

Ashes to ashes
dust to dust
children are bombed
because of the power of lust
the faux king gobbles
up the whole world’s legacy
while everyone weeps

To love or not
to love
that is the answer
to be or not
to be

I love the way
we Irish use
the word "grand"
it's a catch-all
for all sorts
of shenanigans
often it just
means I'm fine
or its a plant
for leave me be
it shows mettle
when it means
I'm terrible
if I say grand
when life's dreamy
it's modesty
it could mean
just about anything
but never
grand.
She wanted everything to be different
the whole world
but she knew the fairy tale
was make believe
because it always ended
happily

If you think
student protests
aren’t education
you’re illiterate
that’s the legacy
you refuse to
.protect.

The American War -
do you think that’s what they’ll call this one?
(the one where we won democracy back)
I’d rather roll around in truth

“If you are feeling heavy on the inside”
Death and birth balance the world
just enough for growth
it’s living in the in between
the now and not yet
the left over inheritance
and the building of a legacy
the experiencing of humanity
that is often more unbearable
#poem
“It’s brutal to a be romantic
in a throw away world”
And then yearning
shoulders in
just to remind me
of my stark loneliness

Power corrupts
or perhaps it’s simply pride
disguised as greed
keeping us tall
while we all stand
in quicksand

Today I am grateful
for the donuts left on my desk
for the wasp in first period
for friends that feel like sisters
for Good people doing Good work
for books
for storytellers
for students who care
“Your turn.”

Mary Oliver once wrote
we contained a multitude
but she didn’t mentioned
a multitude of what - grief
love
Suffering
scattered memories
ash - fire
Sharp edges
lost bets
a cacophony of limits
but anything living
or is it decay en mass
by the time we meet death?
#poem
How much rot ?
will I hold ?
by the time ?
I meet my demise ?

The world has teeth
and has bitten too deep
Don’t take me on a date
and pretend the world is not on fire
Don’t take me on a date
and not know that I create
don’t take me on a date
to try me to persuade me
America is great.
but the outfit ate
either way

Nothing special about me
just an artist painting the world
in soliloquies

Well I lasted about a week on the dating apps
but I have officially given up
if there someone out there
maybe they will write me a letter instead

I can philosophize love
pick and prod
stretch and stick
all while dying
for just a sip

🧊 is in my city
I can’t help
what happens next
just like the bend and snap
the energy is already present

I will no longer
wear the shame
society has placed
on my womanhood
for naked I was born
and naked I’ll remain
despite the inhumane
conditions
of hate
