I don't see closed access as an issue anymore with preprints that can be updated with revised versions. Plus, there were/are other solutions to paywalled articles, while the only solution to exorbitant publication fees of any kind is to stop paying them...

At least their fictitious extreme risks. The actual extreme risks are the destruction of education, the climate, and the lives of those who will pay for tht damage once the bubble pops...
