Thanks to this video by @zoognosisjoy.bsky.social I understand my chicken phobia a bit better.
... not that chicken phobia is irrational. They're definitely dangerous and have weird feet. You've seen in Jurassic Park what dinosaurs are capable of...
(Btw, thanks for the answers. Also, I just watched your video on irrational animal phobia and I do not think I'm ready to overcome my fear of chicken with exposure therapy π)
04.03.2026 23:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ah I didn't consider the ethics of it, but very good that this is the case. So a control would be an object that isn't a crystal, but even then I guess group dynamics and behaviour would make it hard to isolate it as a reason for a behavioural change or lack thereof?

The so-called poverty draft does not seem to be a thing *anymore* in the US, those joining now have a higher-than-median family income [1,2].

So I know very, very little about anything related to field work, but would dropping crystals in the wild, let chimps find them, and observe need a control?
04.03.2026 22:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Sorry if it's in the article, but is it assumed (or known) that this would influence their behaviour when it vomes to this? Or the other way around: Can it be assumed that a "wild" chimpanzee would behave the same?

It was nice for scaffolding out boilerplate, or giving me a gut check on some things, or banging out some boring routine stuff. In the past two months Claude has written about 99% of my code. Things are changing. Fast

We examined how well AI-based antibody-antigen structure prediction pipelines perform at the practical discovery-critical task of differentiating true binders from plausible but incorrect ones. Short answer: not very well.

It's a consequence of the (political, social, cultural, ...) superstructure in certain countries that most of us here are part of and profit from.

* Currently, they're involved in 5
* More than 40 were part of the North American genocide
