This is all to say: I really really really loved the show. Everyone was fantastic in it, the songs were great (even if slightly repetitive) the set design was striking, and the plot was good (even if it runs out of steam in the last 15 minutes).

See Beetlejuice if you can, you won’t regret it.

Then, a tour happened. But since I live in NY (not in NYC but within a few hours) it would never be near me.

Until it was! The tour is finishing its run on broadway! This does mean slightly lower production values than you’d expect on broadway but it’s still great (and clearly above tour quality)

(Side node: I do not understand why broadway shows usually do not record a performance at some point. Beetlejuice was going to but then covid happened)

Years later I learned about it again, I believe from a YouTube animatic. I fell in love immediately, and hoped to see it in the coming months.

It closed 3 weeks later. I was naturally devastated but accepted that I’d never see it since I it wasn’t filmed

I first learned about the musical when it first opened on broadway via YouTube ads. The song in the ad (That Beautiful Sound) wormed its way into my head, but for some reason I never looked more into the show.

I saw Beetlejuice The Musical The Musical The Musical “on broadway” (more on that later) today. It was incredible, and exactly as good as I hoped it would be… even if I have complaints (but I always have complaints about everything).
