GDTN BREAKING NEWS - Voco Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow, Scotland has been evacuated as a major fire takes hold in the city centre. The fire has spread from Union Street to Gordon Street, moving closer to Grand Central Station and the Grand Central Hotel.

GDTN - Minor Hotels has signed an agreement to open Anantara Perth Hotel, introducing the Anantara Hotels & Resorts brand to Australia. The property is planned as part of the Burswood Point development in Perth, with an anticipated opening in 2032.

GDTN - Minor Hotels has announced the planned opening of Avani+ Lanexang Vientiane, a 197-room hotel in Vientiane, Laos, scheduled for Q2 2026. The hotel will be located on Fa Ngum Road in Vientiane, Laos, approximately 15 minutes from Wattay International Airport.

GDTN - The Gran Hotel Taoro in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, has reopened after a five-decade hiatus. Originally inaugurated in 1890 as Spain’s first grand luxury hotel, the building operated solely as a casino from1975, which closed in 2006, leaving the property vacant until now.

GDTN - A luxury train derailed near Keetmanshoop, Namibia earlier today. The Rovos Rail train, carrying tourists and staff members, was en route to South Africa when it derailed approximately 50km southeast of Keetmanshoop with some injured and at least two dead.
