GD TRAVEL NEWS - Korean Air is introducing new, sustainable meal containers for use in economy class. The new, plant-based containers will be used for main entrées offered on board. They are derived from materials including straw, sugarcane and bamboo and will be used from December.

GD TRAVEL NEWS - Happy birthday EasyJet! The airline has reached the tender age of 30! And it's introducing a modern, grey-and-orange new staff uniform and launching a major donation initiative to recycle the outgoing uniforms. Out is the majority-orange uniform to a more, subtle 'grown up' one.

GD TRAVEL NEWS - Belgium will increase its air passenger tax, raising the levy to €10 per departing passenger from 2027 for all flights, regardless of distance, and increasing it further to €11 in 2029. The new measure is expected to generate €168 to €184 million annually.

GD TRAVEL NEWS - LATAM Airlines is expanding its global footprint with new 2026 routes from São Paulo to Amsterdam (from 29 March), Brussels (from 1 June), and Cape Town (from 1 September) connecting Latin America more directly to Europe and Africa than ever before.

GD TRAVEL NEWS - Air Canada is introducing a multi-year initiative to update interiors, new technology, and service improvements on its Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express fleet that serves North American routes, providing seats that recline for all customers.

It'll probably be the usual small snacks found on European routes.

GD TRAVEL NEWS - Air Transat will operate a new non-stop seasonal route between Toronto Pearson to Accra, Ghana from June 17 to Oct. 22, 2026, with two weekly flights on Wednesdays and Sundays. It's the fourth African destination for the airline.

GD TRAVEL NEWS - British Airways is launching a new route to from London Heathrow to Tivat in Montenegro from May 2026. The little-known-to-Brits Tivat is a coastal city located in the Bay of Kotor. The city has a habour with yachts and a mountainous backdrop.

GD TRAVEL NEWS - Ryanair will withdraw all flights to and from the Azores (including to/from London Stansted, Brussels Charleroi, Lisbon, and Porto) from 29 March 2026, blaming what it calls excessive airport fees imposed by Portuguese operator ANA and a lack of government action.

GD TRAVEL NEWS - The Edition Hotel is to open a hotel in Italy's Lake Como in March 2026. The Lake Como EDITION will be the company's 21st property. The hotel will soft-opened this autumn ahead of its full debut in March 2026. It was originally built in 1830 as The London Hotel.

GD TRAVEL NEWS - Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air is to cut the number of flights from London Gatwick Airport to save costs. The airline will start moving routes to its base at London Luton airport. The airline states that slots at Gatwick are expensive to operate from.
