I mean: the choices were: a) Dems, who would continue to support a genocide in Gaza, or b) Republicans, who would exacerbate a genocide in Gaza, start random wars, and open concentration camps. Frank is upset that some folks, by not picking a, effectively ensured that b would result.

Oh, did the Trump administration put a stop to that? I hadn't heard.

Your headline makes the aggression sound simultaneous and mutual. It's not. Try again.

And, of course, Compass Classroom, which would be getting Congress's stamp of approval (and which appears to use the referenced Purifoy works to inform its curriculum), describes itself as "teach[ing] your kids to think Biblically about the world with our video courses."

Mary-Pierson Purifoy's bio. She "was homeschooled until graduating from high school in 2020. For a semester, she attended Samford University in Birmingham, AL but transferred to Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, GA. She was a history major at both colleges and loved it. She has loved teaching history and literature and hopes to continue for many years. "

Mary Pierson-Purifoy, who gets to decide what high schoolers can read, appears to be a 2020 high school (homeschool) graduate, who attended a couple of colleges but whose bio conspicuously omits mention of graduating from *that* level of education.

A screenshot of a Wikipedia summary of a film called "Is Genesis History?". The film, directed, written, and produced by Thomas Purifoy Jr., "promotes the pseudoscientific notion of Young Earth creationism" and "suggests the Earth was created in six days of 24 hours each."

"Who the fuck is Thomas Purifoy that he gets to pick which books are 'classics'" I asked myself.

I would gladly go watch a losing team if a day at the park for a family of four were less than $100, but I assume that isn't what he's got in mind

He also acknowledged that those statutes impose other requirements that make them "slower," and yet he thinks they can immediately support these tariffs remaining in place. Open contempt.

Still, they'd have to prove damages to get them, and a likely defense would be that the damages were offset by increased prices.

No, but that question wasn't before the Court (at least according to the order, which doesn't mention standing at all). And looking into it further, this ruling relates to two cases-the plaintiffs in one won a decision from a lower court that "disrupted supply chains" were enough for standing 1/

If I recall correctly, the companies that sued here alleged, for the purposes of establishing standing, that they had not passed the costs on to consumers, so they'd need to prove that to win.

It sounds good, but (acknowledging that you're the economist here, so this is a genuine question) wouldn't any appreciable reduction in early payments mean that payments wouldn't be keeping up with interest? And if so, how would we induce banks to agree to such terms?

Courts make typos, too, especially when they're pushing things out in a hurry. Probably his clerk thought he wouldn't get to it until Monday, so drafted it to say "February," then the judge put in "31st" without checking the date.

I can't decide whether Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair count as a director's cut, but I'm leaning yes, in which case I'd propose adding that one
