Universal masking, which we tried for two hot seconds in America before people started throwing tantrums & posting up with their guns, is about the same kind of understanding ourselves as a collective we would actually need to counter fascism. You care about the community so you set a group norm.

COVID is oncogenic. It causes and reactivates cancer. Wear a mask to protect yourself from this, you'll regret not doing so as many have.
@figgityfigs.bsky.social This is basically the logical fallacy of the argument from incredulity (this cant be true because I cant see it/imagine it happening). You underestimate how much time it takes for humans to see cause and effect in disease. Paco made a great video on this very subject.
16.10.2025 12:37 β π 18 π 5 π¬ 2 π 0That's why allowing everyone to be infected and reinfected was a catastrophic decision. This is a virus that has already killed more Americans than HIV. We don't know what the long term effects are but none of the research suggests anything good. There are no treatments and no cure.
16.10.2025 17:37 β π 22 π 4 π¬ 1 π 1Itβs a slow-moving spiral: first their health, then their grades, then their future. Those for whom Covid looms very present are feeling forgotten, subject to pervasive skepticism and a kind of cultural fatigue when it comes to their illness.

Most people regard wearing a respirator mask in all public spaces during the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19 as "unreasonable," but I regard wearing a respirator mask as a completely reasonable means of avoiding the irreparable harm that results from every infection of Covid-19.
