The Trump administration’s dragnet continues to widen to unconstitutionally target people with visas. I join @aila.org in calling for immediate Congressional action to check this abuse of executive power. url.avanan.click/v2/r01/___ht...

The Alienation of Jaime Cachua (Gift Article) His friends and family members in Rome, Ga., voted to support mass deportation. Now he’s scrambling to stay in the country.

I can't tell you how often immigration lawyers are contacted by people perfectly happy to deport everyone here without papers until they find out someone they care about is facing removal. But he's one of the good ones!

Experts pour cold water on Trump's plan to end birthright citizenship β€” but issue a stark warning "This goes way beyond overruling Roe... This is quite a bit more of a rethinking of what the country is even about"

Not going to happen. The plan is to get what he wants by scaring people.

Number of Indictments and Convictions of Biden White House Appointees: Zero | Washington Monthly The Biden administration is one of the most ethical, least criminal federal administrations in history.

How clean is the Biden admin? No political appointee of Biden's was indicted or convicted of a crime. And no cabinet officials resigned following accusations of impropriety.

ο»ΏThat's a remarkable ethical achievement for a presidential administration.

Biden Team Considers Blanket Pardons Before Trump’s Promised β€˜Retribution’ White House officials believe President-elect Donald J. Trump’s selection of partisan warriors for top law enforcement jobs indicates that he will pursue revenge against his perceived enemies.

Ridiculous that this is necessary, but I agree. Even if there is not a shred of evidence supporting criminal charges, having to defend against DOJ charges would bankrupt most people.

How Trump's mass deportation plan can use AI to extend immigration crackdown AI is already being used at the U.S.-Mexico border to enforce homeland security. Trump's mass deportation plan will likely expand that well beyond the border.

I am sort of a Johnny Appleseed for using AI to help reduce the access to justice gap and help lawyers do better work. But this is the dark side of what AI can do in the immigration space. Expect lawsuits (with which I will hopefully help).

It turns out that if your main screening criteria for appointments is a willingness to pursue an agenda focused solely on avenging the boss’s grievances, you might not attract model citizens.

Trump's incompetence and litigation resistance may make it pretty hard for him to deliver on his immigration promises so that price pressure might be less than projected.

Cable channels aren't licensed by the FCC because they are not using the public airwaves. This is just going to cause the broadcast networks to abandon their local affiliates and go cable/streaming only.

One thing re: telework; over the last few years the Biden admin hired hundreds of new asylum officers but in remote only jobs. Many’ll outright quit if forced into offices (which don’t even exist for them now). So either they get to keep working remote or the Trump admin loses their capacity.

Opinion | Don’t Do Trump’s Work for Him on Mass Deportations How big will the Trump administration will go, and how quickly?

NEW FROM ME:

The government will do things that hurt people.

But knowing exactly what it is doing β€” & therefore who’s most at risk β€” is at the foundation of fighting against it. Anything else is doing Trump’s job for him.

Here’s a start.
