You can't give a fetus human rights without taking the human rights away from the person carrying it. I will not respond to unsolicited DMs. Sorry, not automatically following anyone back atm because there are too many troll accounts to sort through.

Fewer teen pregnancies are a good thing.

Children born to women over 30 have several points higher in IQ.

They are benefits to having fewer higher quality children. It doesn't have to be doom and gloom.

I agree. We have people on our local council pontificating about fluoride. Which they no longer control. Because too many cookers get elected.

The information environment around councils is fucked, frankly. Too many candidates run on platforms that are just fantasies but they get voted in because their impossible narrative is allowed to fester.

Plus it's hard to stand if you're not wealthy and generally, older. #nzpol

If someone is arguing against due process, just ask them if they believe someone is innocent until proven guilty. It's the same thing.

Before the election, I warned that there is no safe haven under authoritarianism.

If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prisonβ€”accused of no crime, with no trialβ€”they can do it to anyone.

Americans of conscience must stand against this now.

The playbooks for yesterday's tariff profiteering were written in the 1970s, eg Doug Casey's Crisis Investing: Opportunities and Profits in the Coming Great Depression, Harry Schultz's Panics & Crashes and How You Can Make Money Out of Them, Howard Ruff's How To Prosper During The Coming Bad Years..

Think of prohibition as a β€œprice support” for traffickers. You will never make these substances disappear by making them astronomically more valuable. Meanwhile, escalating law enforcement keeps the market in flux. The only thing worse than organized crime is disorganized crime.

More than 50,000 people in Gaza are dead. 114,000 have been wounded β€” two-thirds of whom are women & children. The entire infrastructure has been destroyed.

Much of that devastation has been done with bombs that the U.S. supplied to the Netanyahu war machine. We are complicit.

Trump takes America’s trade policies back to the 19th century The president jacks up tariffs on all countries, with particularly sharp rises for much of Asia

"if Mr Trump gets his way, the economic order that was slowly and steadily built up in the aftermath of the second world war is dead and buried. Instead, Mr Trump extolled the prosperity of America in the late 19th century, when the country was much poorer" www.economist.com/finance-and-...

Moment of clarity today in the Senate where Republicans sided with big banks & against customers. Higher fees, lower transparency.

Now it goes to the House - so call your Member of Congress to ask how they’ll vote!

The next pandemic is coming. NZ isn't ready Special report: The island nation is less prepared for a pandemic than it was five years ago, even as new threats emerge overseas.

I spent about 30 hours over four weeks reading all 716 pages of the report of the Royal Commission into the Covid-19 response, then wrote two articles detailing its findings and recommendations.

With the paywall now lifted on both of those pieces, here's what I found. 🧡

Abortion Bans Are Making It Impossible for Advocates to Help Abuse Victims β€œTo have to say to someone, β€˜You live in a state where you’re more likely to be criminalized than the person who’s abusing you’—it’s devastating,” If/When/How’s Sara Ainsworth told Jezebel.

Abortion access and domestic violence have never been separate issues. Studies show that people who seek and are denied abortions face a significantly increased risk of long-term domestic violence.
