Reflection lines at the edge of the panel indicate that he is behind glass. Panel 3. The viewpoint pulls back to reveal that Jon Arbuckle, the monster, is trapped inside an oven. His mouth is open in a rectangular howl which we cannot hear. An orange paw reaches towards the oven igniter.
Further required listening! But not the Garfield bit.
Don't worry, Garfield doesn't actually burn Jon alive. This time.
