I could expand on this by saying, that if "political capital" as a concept does exist, it only exists in reference to the base of GOP primary voters.

Question, why do we still believe political capital is a real thing? The GOP controls all three branches of government, and they are doing every trick in the book at the state and federal levels to ensure minority control of the country indefinitely. What does it matter if people are angry?

Serious question, what base? The left is divided into two parts, the performative Bernie wing, and the actual Democrats who want to win. One of these parts can't be counted on no matter who we nominate.
