Yeah, I'm not going to claim to be an expert here. You're not wrong, most need to be taken out with cheaper tools. That doesn't devalue the use of expensive tools in certain situations - but the probability has to be very low that you will need to use them, or the economics suck.

I mean, they do have a place, so long as there's defense in depth. If the cheaper options didn't manage to get it, then using a scarce and expensive resource may still make economic sense - either when considered as a fractional cost of defense, or as a damage cost averted.

I'd love to think that these will ever reach production, but I'm very skeptical. Too much new stuff in one package means extended development hell as a general rule.

I'm not sure it's that they hate measuring outcomes -- I think it's that they're afraid of measuring them. The corporate media environment is not exactly subtle in their hostility to the NDP.

Picking this study apart a little, it has a small number of participants n=39), which makes achieving a statistically significant result difficult. Looking at the graph, it does look like it helps at 3 minutes, but again, small n.

Yeah, as you're pointing out, there are a lot of variables and the situation is already chaotic. It may help, or it may not, but trying to collect any evidence in a protest environment is likely a waste of time.

Not just rubbing right - think about an eye wash station, which basically uses flowing water to flush stuff. Any mixing at that boundary layer helps, with or without baby shampoo.

Agreeing with Danon reflection that exiting the area is the first and most critical thing to do regardless.

Interesting, I would expect a small amount of baby shampoo in water to help with pepper spray in particular given capsaicin is hydrophobic.
