Yes the law is stacked against people suing the government and it’s very hard to hold individual government actors responsible.

People should absolutely still be suing the individuals, in their *personal* capacities. Make them get lawyers and defend themselves personally.

I was tempted to file an amicus myself that said "the only reason this EO exists is naked racism, and if you go along with ridiculous contrivances to eliminate birthright citizenship you're ignoring the plain text of the Constitution to help racists." But that may not have been ... persuasive.

I mean the result they urge is the right result, but goodness gracious, none of this should remotely be persuasive reasoning to American judges. AND YET it is a really smart brief because several of the Justices very much allow (their view of) Catholic doctrine to guide them, so...

The right sanction would have the right effect — summon the heads of DHS and ICE, and jail them for civil contempt tell everyone who is supposed to be released is released

Would they appeal? Undoubtedly. Were they win? Maybe. But they can use that time to reflect on what it’s like to be in prison.

I used to think that Vance going from “Trump is America’s Hitler” to being a loyal Trump lapdog was a sign of his craven spinelessness.

So the guy who was convicted 34 times for fraud is so concerned about alleged fraud in Minnesota that he’s going to illegally take away millions of dollars of money that Congress voted to give to disabled seniors, children, and struggling families.
