Was it the middle schoolers or their parents who were allegedly committing these robberies? 🎃

Middle school? My parents just told me what time to come back.

You in fact can't talk about the history of the labor movement without talking about multi-ethnic coalitions. The International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union was initially composed of Jewish and Italian immigrants, but later grew to Black, Puerto Rican, Chinese, and Filipino workers.

Hope those Halloween costumes are warm ones, Denver. 10° below average today.

Lack of cloud cover tonight = it'll cool down quickly. Brr!

the green one isn’t my favorite color but is much more appealing.

The marble one looks slippery af and probably not great for aging residents to distinguish between floor and wall. The bathtub looks like it will swallow you into a wormhole. It’s dated without any charm.

For sure, just noting that the organizers are well aware of concerns and, for whatever reason, have decided that isn’t important in selection.

I keep seeing people say, oh, trans people must take a hit for the greater good and, first of all, no, you don't get to discard someone else's rights and second, we know from past experience that marginalized communities like theirs are merely the first to be targeted. They'll come for you next.

I have been charged in a federal indictment sought by the Department of Justice.

This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.

Ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee Bennie G. Thompson said in a statement “Mobile Fortify is a dangerous tool in the hands of ICE, and it puts American citizens at risk of detention and even deportation.” He also said “ICE officials have told us that an apparent biometric match by Mobile Fortify is a ‘definitive’ determination of a person’s status and that an ICE officer may ignore evidence of American citizenship—including a birth certificate—if the app says the person is an alien. ICE using a mobile biometrics app in ways its developers at CBP never intended or tested is a frightening, repugnant, and unconstitutional attack on Americans’ rights and freedoms.”

New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston is advocating for Flock surveillance cameras, sometimes using false or misleading claims. His claim that Flock cameras solved a missing woman's murder is not true. Her mother tells our @spencersoicher.bsky.social she is "shocked and appalled" by the Mayor's claim.

While parents are asked to consent to these surveillance programs, the school's handbook says that there is "no expectation of privacy" on campus. If parents want to restrict recordings of their children outside of the school, they have to manually opt out of the "anywhere" option— as Jessica Lopez learned midway through her older daughter's second year at Alpha. The girl says she remembers sitting on her bed one night working on schoolwork when she received a notification that she'd been flagged for an anti-pattern. She says Alpha's system sent a video of her in her pajamas, taken from the computer's webcam, that showed her talking to her younger sister.

Parents Fell in Love With Alpha School’s Promise. Then They Wanted Out In Brownsville, Texas, some families found a buzzy new school’s methods—surveillance of kids, software in lieu of teachers—to be an education in and of itself.

Do not send your kids to a school where the only “teaching” is a computer program and computers take video, spyware, & eye tracking.

Invest in public schools & teachers. Hire college students as tutors for additional learning.

my entire experience is opportunistic game attendance for the Rockies, the Cardinals (at the old stadium), and Chicago but at the private Wrigley rooftops. Also a bunch of minor league games at Dell Diamond.

Watching that many innings via tv at home is too much to ask. I’m happy for y’all tho

Rising from the rubble: London pub rebuilt brick by brick after illegal bulldozing Carlton Tavern reopens six years after planning ruling that campaigners hope will prevent developers demolishing other sites

I'm just remembering that pub in London that survived the Blitz and was illegally demolished by its new landlords a decade ago. They were forced to rebuild it brick by brick, as much as possible. It stands as a lesson and a restored memory. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

“Donald Trump vs the NIMBYS?”

I’ve been working in city planning for almost 34 years, all around the world. I’ve seen far more than my fair share of opposition to urban change.

The reaction to Trump’s narcissism-driven molesting of the White House has nothing to do with NIMBYism.

Americans deserve affordable home insurance Fed up with skyrocketing home insurance rates? Demand home insurance companies adopt basic protections for all policyholders. Take action by signing Consumer Reports’ petition today.

When our #boulder building sought new HOA property insurance this year, we saw a 29% increase! This was after our previous insurer exited the Colorado market with little warning.

Consider signing this petition by trusted Consumer Reports.

Column | ChatGPT just came out with its own web browser. Use it with caution. OpenAI’s Atlas promises AI-powered convenience. The price? Letting ChatGPT track and store “memories” of what you do online.

ChatGPT’s new Atlas browser doesn’t just see what you read — it remembers it.

@eff.org’s Lena Cohen showed me it even logged “memories” of her looking for *abortion care* and her doctor’s name. Out-surveils even Chrome.
