"As a species, the challenges we face now are much more acute than those we faced ten years ago. Unspeakably, tragically, and needlessly more acute. This makes the work that we're doing here today, and that the Climate Museum does, all the more urgent." - Climate Museum founding director Miranda Massie
What role do culture and museums play in tackling the climate crisis? It was an honour to explore this question and more with the Climate Museum's founding Director, Miranda Massie, in our latest interview for Cultural Trends. Gift link below! ππ»

Israeli map showing all of southern Lebanon in red with yellow arrows pointing to north of the Litani river
The IDF just ordered the *entirety of south Lebanon* to be forcibly displaced.
They are emptying the land of its population, creating a massive crisis, and will now proceed to further annihilate large parts of Lebanon.
The very nation state of Lebanon is being destroyed.

All Floods Lead to Rome: Watery Repetitions of Resistance Against Empire
Rana Abughannam, ΓmΓ©lie Desrochers-Turgeon, Karen Lutsky, Ozayr Saloojee, and Zoe Todd consider how imperialism in their homelandsβfrom South Africa to Gaza to Turtle Islandβare contemporary manifesta...
I'm really proud of this piece that we collectively wrote for C-Mag on refusing colonial possession. It is featured in their most recent issue.
All Floods Lead to Rome -- the violences we are facing today have a common origin in the muddy waters of Roman rule.

IDF: Israel has the right to defend itself.
Number of students killed in Israeli attack on school in southern Iran rises to 24
We have reported earlier that an Israeli strike hit an elementary girlβs school in Minab, a city in the Hormozgan province of southern Iran, killing five people.
Now, Iranβs Fars news agency is reporting that the number of students killed rose to 24.
Unimaginably depraved.

Belgian museum caught in row over millions of DR Congo records
KoBold Metals and DR Congo are pushing a Brussels museum to release records that would help map valuable metals
Fascinating look at the tangled legacies of colonialism.
DRC wants colonial-era geological surveys so a Bill Gates-backed mining/AI firm can digitize them. The Belgian museum won't release them as it's already doing so.
Trump II is now applying pressure as part of its resource grab.
No good guys.

My university started sneaking "AI readiness" into faculty evaluation rubrics. Suggested reviewer language for spring post-tenure + contingent faculty review prompts reviewers to assess whether courses are "AI ready." We've had no shared governance discussion about this as far as I know+
