The only excuse Lois Lane has for why her interviewing Superman isn't unethical, despite their romantic entanglement, is that it would be even more unethical for the paper's other top reporter, who is Superman, to interview himself, yet she cannot say this. This dilemma should be taught in J-school.

Specifically, I would like to know what are the differences between these columns representing the locations of the x-ray beam, and why none of the values seem to map exactly to the picture taken by the MCC (the values map to completely different areas, and the scale seems slightly incorrect)

Did youtube recently made it easier to do thumbnail AB testing? Videos are going through 5 thumbnails in a day. Out of principle, if you treat your viewership like a casino machine that you can trick if you press the right buttons, I'm not going to watch, just out of spite.

stealing paintings from museums will soon be considered just another tool in the artist's toolbelt

you don't understand. as someone who isn't inherently good at art, stealing paintings from the museum is the *only* way i'm able to express myself creatively. i wouldn't be able to paint beautiful portraits. but by breaking into a museum and stealing the paintings, now i am

It looks interesting, but there's no explanation of how to use the tools. There are descriptions of what it does, but not what to do. I tried the simplest thing, choosing landmarks, but after that none of the 4 buttons seem to do something to the images. "Done" just quits. Do you have any links?

This can't be real can it? An AGI paper from many big names in the field that invents a metric of AGI and claims we're 58% of the way there, and then the references are fake, generated by an LLM? That's got to be an elaborate hoax doesn't it? It's too perfect.

I need to align 2 images. One is a cropped part of the second one, a bit blurrier, a bit stretched. OpenCV pattern matching is stumped. Image J pattern matching, which is based on openCV, is stumped. To the naked eye, the general location is obvious.
What tools would you recommend?

It doesn’t remove them as a follower because, following the model of each account being a website, you can’t change the properties of another account. So blocked accounts aren’t removed from your followers and, somewhat bizarrely, are included in your follower count.

Competitor enters a major AI competition (RNA folding)
GPU poor so can't train an AI
Builds a "classic" eng pipeline instead. (90s tech)
Wins and beat everyone using DL 💀
Their winning "hybrid" model had an AI in it. Their original one did not and had a higher score
So they won despite the AI 😂

Can anyone explain what it means when people say that "blocks on bluesky are nuclear". To me it looks weaker that other platforms.
When I left Twitter, the block function did everything it does here PLUS remove the follower, which bsky doesn't do.

Screenshot of a vulture posing. Its neck is naked and looks like a giant face. Text reads: Himalayan griffon vulture showing off it's [typo] fake eyes to scare the other species
I don't imagine there's any evidence for this, but it would be funny if it was true. Because what is the predator of vultures supposed to be, and what bird is supposed to have a giant face like that? A pterodactyl? 😂
