On 25 April the Equality and Human Rights Commission announced that it would undertake a public consultation on updates made to its statutory Code of Practice for services, public functions and associations, following the Supreme Courtβs judgment in For Women Scotland v Scottish Ministers. In light of the level of public interest, as well as representations from stakeholders in Parliament and civil society, the consultation period has been extended. The following arrangements have now been confirmed: The consultation will aim to launch 19 May and close on 30 June 2025. The consultation will focus on sections of the Code of Practice that required updating following the Supreme Courtβs judgment. A draft of the full Code of Practice was consulted on between October 2024 and January 2025. The consultation will seek views on whether these updates clearly articulate the practical implications of the judgment and enable those who will use the Code to understand, and comply with, the Equality Act 2010. The Supreme Court made the legal position on the definition of sex clear, so the EHRC is not seeking views on those legal aspects. While the consultation is running, the EHRC will hold Q&A sessions with stakeholders representing affected protected characteristic groups. These meetings aim to answer questions on the EHRCβs understanding of the Supreme Courtβs judgment, the consultation process, where views are being sought and what can and cannot be changed in the draft Code of Practice. Participants will still need to submit a consultation response. The EHRC will also meet with governments from across Britain and hold informative briefings for Parliamentarians. The EHRC will review responses received as part of the consultation and make necessary amendments to the Code of Practice. It will then be submitted to the Minister for Women and Equalities for approval and laying in Parliament. Further information on the consultation and how it can be completed will follow.
Heads upπ¨ Coordination needed.
The EHRC consultation on updated Statutory Code of Practice opens this Monday 19th May & will run for 6 weeks.
The EHRC will be holding Q&A sessions with stakeholders representing affected protected characteristic groups.

29.04.2025 08:08 β π 197 π 41 π¬ 25 π 5Today I've written to Bridget Phillipson to ask for clarity on how the government will ensure trans people's rights in the wake of the recent Supreme Court ruling and EHRC guidance. At a moment of extreme worry and distress for the trans community, govt must step up and give assurances.

Screw the so-called Labour Party; screw the so-called EHRC; and screw the so-called Supreme Court: you've not made even one woman safer but you're causing great cruelty to tens of thousands of people leading blameless lives.
Any Member of Parliament who does not actively work towards passing primary legislation to protect the rights of trans and nonbinary people should be considered to be taking a stand against us.
There is no neutral. Inaction is oppression.
Statements of support or solidarity are worthless.
Honestly feeling sick today. This guidance is truly vile. Trans people are being stripped of human rights.
26.04.2025 09:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Carry on using the right toilets. And remind your friends and family voting in the local elections next week that this is Labour's policy and Labour extended the term of the bigot running the EHRC.
26.04.2025 05:41 β π 2259 π 619 π¬ 54 π 23- Will male police officers now have powers to strip search any woman they suspect as being trans? - What does 'biological sex' mean? Is it 1. what's on your birth certificate? 2. one's genitals? 3. hormonal? 4. chromosomes? 5. A combination of all of these? - If 1. will we all now have to carry our birth certificates around with us and present them every time we wish to urinate? If 2. Will we have to present our genitals for inspection? (in which case some trans women have vaginas)? If 3. Will we have to take a 'gender test' similar to that undergone by elite athletes? If 4. How will that be measured? - If the answer is 5 - where will intersex people go? What is deemed to be the 'correct' balance of female hormones? Will cis women with naturally high testosterone be allowed to use single sex spaces? What about cis women who are post-menopausal? - Where are trans men supposed to go if they need a single sex space? I cannot imagine the gender critical campaigners behind the Supreme Court decision would be comfortable sharing with people who are indistinguishable in almost every way from cis men (and trans men would certainly not want to do that either). And finally if, as I suspect, all of the answers to my questions above conspire to create a situation where womanhood is a tightly gatekept thing, accessible only to those who meet strict criteria, and everyone else is labelled 'not woman' - How is that a win for feminism?
Iβve asked my local MP to ask these questions to the government on my behalf. Feel free to copy and paste if useful.
23.04.2025 17:25 β π 487 π 190 π¬ 35 π 11I've written to British Transport Police asking for clarity on the specific changes they've made to their policy following the Supreme Court ruling.
With EHRC guidance still pending, it's vital we understand how these decisions were made and what they mean in practice.
Please stand up for your trans friends, check in on them, write to your MP, correct people when they are in the wrong.π©΅π©·π€π©·π©΅

Well this is frankly disgusting! Substitute transgender with another marginalised group and consider if that would have the same outcome...
