A large puppet structure with a black trash bag-like head and a purple patchwork robe/dress displayed against the Chicago skyline. People in rain gear (yellow and pink raincoats) are gathered around the base of the puppet, which appears to be mounted on a metal frame or scaffold. The distinctive Chicago skyline with its skyscrapers is visible in the background, with flowering trees in the foreground.

A detailed close-up of the patchwork fabric used in the puppet's robe. The quilt-like panels are predominantly in shades of purple and lavender with blue trim. There are handwritten messages about love, including the word "LOVE" prominently displayed with phrases like "So in love," "Every lasting love," along with heart symbols and decorative ribbons.
Rain or shine these puppets come alive!
After weeks of preparation, our puppets make their debut today! The excitement is electric as final adjustments are made and our member puppeteers take their positions.

An outdoor scene featuring a very large puppet in an urban setting with tall buildings in the background against a clear blue sky. The puppet has a stylized head and is wearing purple and yellow fabric garments. Several people standing on the ground are operating the puppet using long poles with wire-frame structures that appear to be giant hands.
Two people standing outdoors holding puppet manipulation poles. One person in a white t-shirt is holding a pole with what appears to be a black bee puppet attachment with pink/translucent wings. The other person in a blue shirt is holding a pole with yellow fabric. A white SUV is parked in the background.
A person with dark hair in a bun, wearing a patterned short-sleeve shirt and brown pants, is holding a long wooden pole with a wire sculpture shaped like a hand/glove at the end. They are in an indoor space that with plastic sheeting covering the floor. The ceiling has exposed ductwork and fluorescent lighting. The wire sculpture structure they're manipulating is the arm of a large puppet.

The puppet has yellow fabric wings is draped in purple fabric with some text visible on it. The background shows urban buildings and a parking area. Several people in the group are working together to manage different parts of the puppet structure.

From creators to puppeteers! Today we moved from building to training, teaching members how to bring our massive puppet to life. Learning to coordinate movements, handle weight, and express emotion through a giant puppet requires teamwork and practice.

Today we welcomed incredible members of @seiu.org to our first puppet-building workshop in Seattle. Everyone dove right in, creating pieces that will come together into something spectacular. The creativity and stories shared are already making this project so special, we're just getting started!
