They think we can’t keep up with all the stuff they’re doing? My brain has been tracking over a decade of Real Housewives storylines, lyrics from the Grateful Dead and Phish catalogues, and details from dozens of book series.

In my head, it's a novella. Somehow, I've just retained the adventure and a love for the characters (Bone Dog forever!), forgetting that it was 426 pages long.

There are a few authors I love who let characters from past books make cameos. It’s like a wink to those who have been with them for a while (and maybe a nudge for new readers). Love that!

Trying to write an ARC review for the final book in an epic YA fantasy trilogy reminds me that my reviews are either six paragraphs of detailed praise or two sentences of exaltation.

I feel like this book, Holy Terrors by Margaret Owen, deserves the former. #booksky

Painted Devils by Margaret Owen. It’s YA fantasy with an outrageous FMC who was a thief and an MMC who is a “prefect” (akin to an inspector). They make me laugh and cry.

I’m going to get off #booksky, put on the Lazy Sunday playlist on Spotify, and read Painted devils by Margaret Owen.

Confession: I check books out when I’ve already read the ARCs just to take pictures for my Instagram. I always wonder if someone at the library can see that I return a lot of books after a day or two. 🫣

I think they’re eye-catching! The women have a pinup/Barbie feel and the fonts remind me of TV/film in the late 50s/early 60s.

I love experimentation and hope it catches the eyes of some new readers.

You’re reminding me of a book that essentially ended with “what interesting events and I’ll be dying soon.” WHAT?!? I knew I wasn’t getting an HEA in litfic, but no resolution of any kind? How can anyone find this satisfying?

Some trad publishers have decided readers aren’t in the market for historical genres.

I’ve already seen disappointing choices in #historicalmystery (two in this pic are firsts in series that weren’t continued by Berkley) and I am sad to hear that #historicalromance authors are experiencing cuts.

From your lips! I love learning about history while enjoying a romance and the genre has diversified so much over the years. The “brain off” and “no politics in bookish spaces” readers are really loud right now.

There’s a lot of discussion on bookthreads about publishers/agents saying historical romance is out because younger readers want romantasy. Does #booksky agree?

Why ignore older readers? I have way more time to read and more money for books now than I did when I was in my 20s and 30s.

I’ll eat then almost any way, but topping with a simple maple and orange glaze that is awesome (you can add bacon if there are meat lovers around).

I feel like I saw that conversation on reddit. As if we can’t appreciate a beautifully crafted story and clever word choices if we happen to read more quickly than that person.
