The people who need to hear this won’t watch because it’s in another language. But I’m here for yet another right-winger from Europe criticizing our president.

They think we can’t keep up with all the stuff they’re doing? My brain has been tracking over a decade of Real Housewives storylines, lyrics from the Grateful Dead and Phish catalogues, and details from dozens of book series.

In my head, it's a novella. Somehow, I've just retained the adventure and a love for the characters (Bone Dog forever!), forgetting that it was 426 pages long.

There are a few authors I love who let characters from past books make cameos. It’s like a wink to those who have been with them for a while (and maybe a nudge for new readers). Love that!

Trying to write an ARC review for the final book in an epic YA fantasy trilogy reminds me that my reviews are either six paragraphs of detailed praise or two sentences of exaltation.

I feel like this book, Holy Terrors by Margaret Owen, deserves the former. #booksky

Painted Devils by Margaret Owen. It’s YA fantasy with an outrageous FMC who was a thief and an MMC who is a β€œprefect” (akin to an inspector). They make me laugh and cry.

I’m going to get off #booksky, put on the Lazy Sunday playlist on Spotify, and read Painted devils by Margaret Owen.

Confession: I check books out when I’ve already read the ARCs just to take pictures for my Instagram. I always wonder if someone at the library can see that I return a lot of books after a day or two. 🫣

Can a headline alone be eligible for a Pulitzer?

I think they’re eye-catching! The women have a pinup/Barbie feel and the fonts remind me of TV/film in the late 50s/early 60s.

I love experimentation and hope it catches the eyes of some new readers.

Per the Oxford English Dictionary, #booksky friends, audio is included in the definition of β€œread.”

Don’t make fun of renowned Dan Brown Renowned author Dan Brown woke up in his luxurious four-poster bed in his expensive $10 million house – and immediately he felt angry. Most people would have thought that the 48-year-old man had no…

Everyone has had a frustrating time with a book they hoped to love. Some take to GoodReads, where they post their little negative review and it doesn’t have all that much impact.

And then there’s what happens to Dan Brown…

You’re reminding me of a book that essentially ended with β€œwhat interesting events and I’ll be dying soon.” WHAT?!? I knew I wasn’t getting an HEA in litfic, but no resolution of any kind? How can anyone find this satisfying?

A picture of the dedication in Little Thieves that says β€œTo the gremlin girls, I would like to tell you something inspiring, but the truth is, when life closes the door for us, it doesn’t always open a window. The good news is; that’s what bricks are for.”

A great dedication can get you amped up for a book.

From Little Thieves by Margaret Owen (published by Henry Holt @ Co). #booksky

The cover of Earl’s Trip by Jenny Holiday. A regency scene with a horse drawn carriage headed towards a manor house in the country.

The cover of Manic Pixie Dream Earl by Jenny Holiday. A seaside scene from the regency era with people rowing a boat and a bathing machine. An artist paints on the shore. A house and rider are in the background with a grand home.

I love it when I find a sequel on Goodreads before it has popped up on my social channels.

If you read Earl’s Trip by Jenny Holiday and wanted more, a second book is coming next May! From Kensington.

Who doesn’t love a punny title? And aren’t those covers adorable?

Some trad publishers have decided readers aren’t in the market for historical genres.

I’ve already seen disappointing choices in #historicalmystery (two in this pic are firsts in series that weren’t continued by Berkley) and I am sad to hear that #historicalromance authors are experiencing cuts.

From your lips! I love learning about history while enjoying a romance and the genre has diversified so much over the years. The β€œbrain off” and β€œno politics in bookish spaces” readers are really loud right now.

Kathy Bates in Fried Green Tomatoes saying β€œFace it, Girls. I’m older and I have more insurance.”

There’s a lot of discussion on bookthreads about publishers/agents saying historical romance is out because younger readers want romantasy. Does #booksky agree?

Why ignore older readers? I have way more time to read and more money for books now than I did when I was in my 20s and 30s.

I’ll eat then almost any way, but topping with a simple maple and orange glaze that is awesome (you can add bacon if there are meat lovers around).

Thanks for sharing the video of how they are harvested! One of my grocery stores sells them on the stem!

I feel like I saw that conversation on reddit. As if we can’t appreciate a beautifully crafted story and clever word choices if we happen to read more quickly than that person.

If you love your library (and that sweet, sweet access to Libby, Hoopla, etc), please consider joining the Friends of the Library group affiliated with it.

These groups would be even more amazing with #booksky (and bookstagram, booktok, bookthreads) people in them.

-ARC reader β€œresponsibilities”
-booktok ruined [everything]
-I’m-selling-binding-not-fan-fiction
-moral superiority in romance subgenres
-You have to read The Classics
-romance doesn’t need an HEA
-β€œI read brain off.”

I’m sure I’m missing some.

Starting off my #booksky with the running list of engagement bait on booktwitter, bookstagram, booktok, booktube, and bookthreads:

-people who read a lot are lying
-audiobooks don’t count
-don’t be political
-don’t leave negative reviews
-content warnings are spoilers
