Long time no post! I keep trying to be consistent here and make it work for us, but uhhhhhhh guess I was too busy getting us into public libraries and a poem we published into the Pushcart anthology ;-). Anyways, we’re open for subs thru the end of June.

The moon is broken, and the sky is cracked. But we can still make something beautiful, together. Come on up to the house. <3

New Thimble issue just dropped. Big thanks to our volunteer staff, readers, and contributors.

Haven't been too active here lately. It's a lot to keep up with. Our insta run by Kathryn Haney is where it's at, tbh. (www.instagram.com/thimblelitmag/). How do y'all make BlueSky *work* for you? Is it just a matter of putting in the time? Or are there some secret hacks you could let me in on? xox

What poetry wins have you gotten recently? Please brag on yourself! I (Nadia) got some rejection letters, but I’m proud of myself for trying. Still a win in my book.

David Lynch gave us the language we needed to better articulate the indescribable strangeness of our shared reality. β€œLynchian” is so overused because it’s a viscerally understandable word without any known synonyms. I can’t imagine a more beautiful artistic legacy than that.

Zoom. Jan 18. 10:30 AM EST. Suggested $10 donation, but no one turned away. Thimble’s sm maven is whipping up something better, but in the meantime, graphic design is my passion, so I knocked it out of the park. See you there? We’re making poems that are like:

A poem from Kaitlin Shelter Poetry, dated January 12, 2020

sometimes I wonder
if Mary breastfed Jesus.
if she cried out when he bit her
or if she sobbed when he would not latch.

and sometimes I wonder
if this is all too vulgar
to ask in a church
full of men
without milk stains on their shirts
or coconut oil on their breasts
preaching from pulpits off limits to the Mother of God.

but then i think of feeding Jesus,
birthing Jesus,
the expulsion of blood
and smell of sweat,
the salt of a mother’s tears
onto the soft head of the Salt of the Earth,
feeling lonely
and tired
hungry
annoyed
overwhelmed
loving

and i think,
if the vulgarity of birth is not
honestly preached
by men who carry power but not burden,
who carry privilege but not labor,
who carry authority but not submission,
then it should not be preached at all.

because the real scandal of the Birth of God
lies in the cracked nipples of a
14 year old
and not in the sermons of ministers
who say women
are too delicate
to lead.

Our associate poetry editor, Richard Jordan, posts great poetry often. I've read Giovanni before, of course, but not this one. What a legacy.
