A favorite indeed! I love the books and could quibble with plenty in the film, especially Maturin, but I enjoy it madly regardless. And Crowe managed to define Jack Aubrey for me. It's a rare performance that can redefine a beloved character and be entirely welcome in doing so.

I'm a huge fan of both, and so was Patrick O'Brian.
