Arkham Asylum's warden, Quincy Sharp is a suited gentleman seated in the foreground with a bruise over his eye and duct tape over his mouth, where a smile has been painted over it. To his sides are the grimacing Joker and Harley Quinn, the prior with his hand on the Warden's shoulder, and the other controlling the Scarface marionette, the former in a nurse's uniform, and jester's cap holding her cork gun behind her back. The trio are flanked by Scarecrow, Killer Croc and Poison Ivy all wearing their prison oranges. I've gotten to see the games evolves in real time and improve on mechanics, and progress in its lore, and culminate with Arkham Shadows, which is a triumph. So I'm gonna dog on these games a lot, but I'm still gonna talk about them.

My relationship with Batman, and to this series specifically is so personal and longstanding that its lows cut so deep because they disappoint me so much. On the flip side of the coin, all of its highs feel like a triumph.

Literally, this clip encapsulates the series' portrayal of women, flat characterization, snappy quips and "Badass moments" as a replacement for dialogue in a tight 2 minutes. And yet I've groaned so many times at this clip, because I have played this game, so many times.

I am not a fan of the writing in the Arkham games, but damn... Interfacing with Batman's traversal, his gadgets, the game's visual language, and the familiarity I have with the maps are such a core piece of how I think about and see Gotham City in my own art.

AJJ's live from Quarantine series was such a valuable part of the year 2020 and 2021 to me. Sean really put in a little time almost every day of quarantine for those of us at home to entertain, to empathize, and rally. I'm not ashamed to say I still go back and listen to those sets. When I first sketched this idea, I'd had the Doom Patrol staring off at some strange, fantastical thing before them, only I hadn't gotten as far as what specifically they were looking at... Then I had the thought "What if me not coming up with anything was the joke?" in a meta sort of way...

Actually, All-American trash was a huge inspiration for this project. I'm such a big fan of Brockhampton's music, as well as their visual language, so when I was looking for ideas, this artwork really stood out to me.

I had a lot of fun working on this piece! I wanted to pay homage to the classic Suicide Squad #1 cover, while bringing something completely new, from sharp, uneven bordering, creases and textures, to drop-shadows under each layer, this collage-style graphic was so rewarding as an artist

Found a really fun WIP in my drafts from probably 2 years back! :-) Really fun concept, accidentally cornered myself into drawing super detailed vegetation! Uh-oh! Have a bit of time this morning, I'll put a little time in and see if I can move it closer to the end zone.
