Here's the good faith point: your reasons for defending Khanna were bad (bad math, to begin with, but also bad analytics). Instead, one should defend Khanna based on good reasons. Bad reasons, even when they fortuitously yield the right result in one case, lead to bad results in others.

It has. It notes the genocide allegation is antisemitic if "accompanied by claims about the distinctive nature, power or perfidy of Jews or the state of the Jews" or if it "yields a call to undertake violence against Jews."

I don't think what Khanna said was antisemitic. But the "conflation" arg is not the reason why. If you've ever quoted 30 Rock's "just say Jewish Jack, this is taking forever", you understand the point (Liz wasn't "conflating" Jews w/"elitist, East coast, alternative, intellectual, left-wing....")

Nexus doesn't say "claims" can *never* be "blood libel", they say that *Khanna's* claim isn't one of them.

As you say, at the very least to warrant the "blood libel" allegation there needs to be a lot more than the simply fact that one uses the term "genocide".

(But also ... OBVIOUSLY some shots taken at "New York City" are viewed as antisemitic, because lots of Jews live there and it is often Jewish-coded in the public mind. The first episode of The West Wing literally used that as a plot point!)

It's also just bad math. NYC is approximately 12% Jewish (~1m Jews), but that makes it a little over 6% of the world's Jewish population. In Israel, 70% of the population is Jewish (~7m), which translates to ~40% of the global Jewish population.
