I don't think that's either necessary or effective as a way of Trump whipping GOP support. They've never shown an inclination to standup to daddy Trump before, they don't need a Bibi-endorsement to point them that way.

Israel's conduct here is independently problematic/condemnation-worthy/ill-conceived, but there's no reason for Democrats to let Republicans off the hook by agreeing with Republicans that Republicans aren't fundamentally responsible for their own disastrous choices.

Like, already I've seen versions of "we'd never have gone to war in Iran OR Iraq if Israel wasn't pulling our strings" and I'm like "...because making bloodthirsty and ill-conceived policy choices is so unimaginably out-of-character for GWB or Trump?" Why are you simping for them?

I get why Republicans are running with the "Israel made us do it" frame -- it gives them a ready-made escape hatch if things go south -- but I don't get why* so many progressives are eager to promote this narrative absolving the GOP of responsibility.

When, in however many months/years, the GOP tries to run from this calamity, the line they will take about where they went astray will 100% be "we were dragged into this by the Jews; lesson learned: 'don't listen to Jews'".
