In medical school in 1982 I was taught that if you counted all the lives saved by coronary bypass surgery and appendectomies and cholecystectomies and all surgeries you could think of and compared them to the lives saved since vaccines were introduced, it wouldn’t even be close. Vaccines win!

We saw Dr. Casey Ashby, ENT specialist in Kalamazoo, MI, yesterday for followup on Jan’s cough. I couldn’t help but photograph his socks. He’s a great guy with a super “bedside manner,” but also rocks fun socks.
AND he found nothing wrong with Jan. So we are back to blaming medications.

It is a pleasure to see previous presidents and our present president honoring Jimmy Carter at the State Funeral, all behaving well.

Sequence: we went grocery shopping and came home to our elf, who had its back to the window when we left, precariously posed on the window sill. Of course, they can’t let you see them move, so we left them there. The next morning, I found the elf on the floor. No doubt the cats were innocent.
